Default Shipping a big plane

I searched this subject and found some info. Mostly on how to built a crate. What I want to know is who to ship the crate with the plane inside. I'm out of state for work and want to build a 27% Yak while I'm here. The problem comes in when I need to get it back to Michigan in a couple months. What companies are you all shipping the planes with? I can't imagine all these guys are driving to all these contests with the planes? Any help will be appreciated! I checked with FedeX and they quoted me $600!!!! Holy crap!

www.freightquote.com

Max shipped me the Tunaboat (42% plane) from CA to Ohio in a crate that weighed 85 lbs.
The cost was $144.00

They will find the best rates.
If you crate is under 85" long you can ship it through Greyhound for probably under $100.

Hope this helps!
Good luck!

Just so you know, Greyhound will only insure a package for a maximum of $300 to $500 depending on where it is shipping from and where it is going to.

I shipped Greyhound from Sac Ca. to Ohio and it was around $100.00. Good deal but, it took it about 2 1/2 weeks for it to arive there. You are at there mercy.
