Default What to do with this prop CONTEST!!!!!!!

OK, I had another thread on this prop I aquired and a couple folks seem to think it came off a target drone or used on the farm as a grain dryer fan. Yeh, it can kick out some air and has great pitch! The last contest went great, about a design and logo for my hydro that I built and $100 is on it's way to 3Disaster for his winniing graphics and logo ideas. NOW, we have a new contest for the winner to recieve $100 for his/her idea I choose to use this propeller for. I have a couple ideas but I am disqualified from participating. Submit pictures, drawings, anything you like, to show me what I should build for this prop. Be creative and anything goes here. No limits what-so-ever. I will choose ONE persons idea, I will then post that idea, I will then send that person $100 cash in the mail, and yes, it will make it to you. Just ask 3Disaster what arrived in an envelope adressed to him. This contest is open to anyone and everyone that sees it. I have posted pics of this prop. It is 36" in length, weighs 4.3 lbs. and is very well balanced. It will go on a 3/4" keyed shaft. If you need any other info on this prop, or anymore pics, please feel free to ask. I will conclude this contest 6 (six) months from todays date and the contest will end on February 17, 2009 and the winner will be announced within a week after that date and the prize mailed out. I will then do a build thread here, based on that winner's idea. I will periodically check and let you know if I see some good ideas without identifying what ones they are so nobody magnetizes to that idea. Good luck to all and have fun! Scott

Put it on a John Deere plane.

Bolt it to a tractor!

Ok this is my idea but you should make a yard windmill weather vane type whirligig , Shaped like a profile of a plane where maybe the turning of the prop makes the pilot wave or turn his head Ect.

See picture for general idea

I would mount a John Deere clock in the center of it. Then donate it to a contest of your choice and use it for the person who has the lowest inverted pass.

(Some) Hydroponic farmers use large reservoirs that need to be continually mixed (keep the nutrients mixed and solution aerated.) Not a glorious usage, but a damn cool one. Probably be the slowest speed that prop ever turned usefully.

Re-paint it blue and white. Put the FG logo on it and have it travel to all of the Huckfests in 09. Put as many "small" signatures on it as possible. At the end of the year, auction it off. I'll use my $100 to pay for the shipping to the winner. No build thread required. Just pics of the prop at every event as an update.

If your handy at wood working or metal working, make a lawn/garden ornament of a plane (does not have to be full length fuse, but one that looks like a plane from the front) and have the prop mounted on a bearning so that the wind will spin the prop. Of course it has to be a plane in John Deere colors.

Yes actually, I am handy and a very good engineer. If you come up with a reasonable project that the normal, ok...., the above normal person can build out of easy to get materials, I will bring it to life. I have several machines at my shop, including a metal brake, sheer, drill press, cut-off saw, horizontal band saw, all welders, etc. etc. and will do my best to make your idea come to life. Forget about the color of the prop(JD greene) as I will repaint it and it will say' Flying Giants' on each side. BUT, to help you all out and make this a little easier, I am supplying you with a new engine to use in your ideas!!! I picked it up at a friends store for $400! He was asking $500,but, I said,"what deal would you give a friend". OK, I will post the picks soon. I hope you don't mind this interjection, and hope you find the tools, easier to work with. Thanks for keeping this going. Scott

Here is a raw project I am building now, A Snapper lawn mower that will never mow again and can take to the track at 60 MPH! I also build my own portable sand blaster out of raw materials. Did I mention, I have a pipe bender too? enjoy. Scott
