Shouldn't there be duct tape involved to really be a real red-neck system.

BEWARE OF IMITATORS!! Not all couplers are created equal. These couplers were purchased from a hobby dealer in Fla!
This happened twice in a row.
The arresting wire did prevent the can from shifting to the rear - the second time!
and I now only leave an 1/8" space between the two - too

Those couplers you get from the Florida vendor are crap! You think they would have tested them before selling a cheap product. I had the same problem and now just use the white teflon couplers from AI.

I went to DA. for the replacements. The 1/4" space between the two pipes is suspect as a bit too much perhaps.
Now with 2.4 technology I don't care if they touch.

I have been using the couplers from a FL vendor for a couple of years without a problem. My issue was cutting a set of headers for the cannisters to clear the wingtube of a Comp-Arf MX-2. Cut them both to the same length, losing the swage that the coupler retainers rest on. One can was held captive by the wing tube, the other slid back, and into the fuse. The open header was dumping directly into the fuse. Landed immediatly before any damage occured.

The hose clamp and saftey wire is an acceptable method of retaining an oil filter on motorcycles when prepping them for race track use. (four stroke roadracing Jeff!)
