Ok guys. FlightPass coverage of The Clover Creek Invitational is now complete. I added the awards presentations and a few more interviews plus more of the freestyles. If I find any gems I missed I'll post but for now I'm done. As of today we have posted 110 HD films and 83 photos. Whew! Below I have listed a few of my most memorable moments from the event that we captured and posted on FlightPass:

Andrew's Unfortunate Beginning. Andrew is absolutely ripping on Thursday afternoon about 30 minutes before the pilot's meeting. His last flight of the day. He goes dead stick mid field and is forced to make a tough decision. There is a deep drainage ditch at the end of the runway so he shoots for the corner, but he has too much speed and not enough grass. AJ ends up hitting the fence and snapping the plane (his brother's plane) in half. Ouch.

Seth's One Wing Landing. While I was eating lunch on Friday, Seth Arnold lost a wing doing a snap in his sequence. I raced to the camera and filmed the subsequent one-wing aproach and landing. He lined it up perfectly and even rolled over towards the gear at touchdown. But the grass is so thick and spongy it grabs the wheel pant as it touches and...well...watch and see. We took a vote and all agree that Seth is now officially inducted into the Bill Hempel one-wing landing club.

Gernot's touch too much. Gernot's best Freestyle of the weekend scored a 0 because he touched the ground during a low inverted pass. This was his first Freestyle of the competition and it just goes to show how hard these pilots were pushing it to go this low and this hard right out of the gate!

Jason's One Stab Landing. Jason knows he has to push hard to make the finals. He gets extra low in a KE pass...too low. The grass here is thick and luxurious, but that means if you touch it GRABS. And grab it did, pulling Jason's left stab off. Too damaged to safely continue, Jason brings it around for a perfect one-stab landing.

Clover Creek Golf Tournament. This is a typical pilot wind-down event as instigated by golf-loving Mark Leseberg. Mark hits a LONG solid drive off a makeshift tee that must be held in place...BY HAND. Who's hand? Jason Noll! I don't care how good of a golfer Mark is no way would I put my hand that close to a swinging club. These guys are crazy. Crazy good, but crazy!

The Pool Interview. After a day of hot flights nothing beats a dip in the pool! Tina Schroder invites me to take a dip and she didn't have to ask twice. Gernot and Chris won't jump in but they have an interesting pool-side discussion about snappy snaps and whether or not they ever let go of the sticks during a flight.

Sunday Interviews. We talk to a lot of pilots on Sunday morning about their experiences. Unfortunately our pilot mic went dead for a few of these, but crank up the volume and you can still hear what these great pilots thought about Clover Creek. Hear AJ, Quique, Eric Powell, David Moser, Jason Noll, Alex Porter, Cody McClean and more.

Jason Noll Sick Low. It's one thing to get low in a hover or harrier. But to get big sweeping turns this low at full throttle is just plain sick...the good kind of sick that I LOVE. ;-) This is without a doubt the lowest I have ever seen Jason fly this routine.

Quique A Bit Too Low. Another testament to how hard pilots are pushing Quique goes for a low rudder turn and catches the ground. Turns out there is a slight hump in the runway henceforth to be known as "Quique's Knoll". Mark Leseberg later commented that in the 15 years he has been watching Quique fly this is the first crash he has ever seen that could be attributed to pilot error.

Signing Off. John and Joe bid us farewell. Beautiful weather, great flying, a perfect flying site and fantastic hosts. All I can say is hurry up 2010!!

All films and photos can be seen here:

Jon, go to desert aircrafts website, and look for previous shootouts. All the unknowns are there. That is what I practice, and they are good

we really do not know how we are going to do the next contest - i THINK - we are going to do a regualr IMAC event next year - and POSSIBLY - an Invitational 'Qualifier'......again, nothing in stone...just some ideas that were bounced back and forth.

any suggestions or ideas?
