Default Sleepy's personal breakdown - Toledo 2006.

Well, I'm back from TOLEDO...
I'm tired, I have a pounding headache, and my wallet is MUCH lighter than when I left home... BUT...

Was it worth it?
Did I have a good time?
Will I do it again Next year?
Is Mad Max completely INSANE!

The Answer to all these questions is HELL YES!

Friday - met up with everyone, had some fun at the show, saw all the new gear available, made mental notes of the stuff I wanted to buy, and then we all headed out to the ETOC.

ETOC - 1 word. INSANE. The skill of the pilots is unbelievable. They make everything they are doing look completely effortless, and yet WE ALL KNOW THIS IS NOT THE CASE! I had a ball filming the live stream as Max, Biff, JeeUm and the Boyz hammed it up.
Special thanks, to Bevis, Jason Shulman, Animal and the other pilots that came and narrated in their own style. I was laughing so hard a few times, I hope the camera feed didn't suck. ALSO, special shout out the the Hooters Girls... Conradical (NEW Official TAG!) will never be the same. (PS. at one point I think my elbow got some!! yea yea!!)

After the contest we took a long deserved break at the hotels bar, After a few rounds of Adult pops, some of the guys took to flying foamies in the lobby, Manuel from Mexico proclaimed his love for his airplane and the Flying Giants, and at this point we lost MAX. (strangely enough, Biff did not seem to mind this....)
All was going along good....I remember the foamies, and I remember 3 AM, but after that... well ummm.... I know Max was still missing. and I think I posted something to the site... (I apologize for that now!)

Also, special shouts out to Conradical for basically being the Flying Giants "Q" from James Bond. Mad Max is a technical guru, but Conradical is a gizmo guru, guy has like 3 phones, 2 GPS systems, a global image satellite, and some other weird tech gear that I believe can destroy stuff if need be. The reason we were able to stream the footage was due to Conradicals Gizmo's, (and of course Max's great idea)

Sat we all woke up around 11am...(opps I missed the AM wake up call)
BUT.... Max and Biff still were up and at em way before any of the rest of us...
Thats some dedication to the cause! If they felt anything like I did that morning, the meetings they attended must have been ruff!

Saturday was spent promoting the Huckfest, and the giants site, while Max and Biff filmed and did their thing!
Some how a pile of props (including the new Vess prop) found their way into my bag, as well as a pile of other gotta have it small items that quickly add up to a big price tag. Also, a 73" QuiQue YAK for my 26cc motor found its way into my Van.... MAN what a nice plane! (I'll do a full report as soon as I get a chance.)

After we all emptied our wallets (ask JeeUm about the cost of retracts and scale wheels.. WOAH!!! that Bear cat BETTER be cool now!) we all got hungry and hooked up with a few friends (Chris Fry, Miah and Eye)

We hit the ONLY restaurant we could find in a 20 mile radius, the Spaghetti Warehouse... I'd just like to take this time to apologize to any of the families that were around us during lunch.... I'm Sorry...I really am... Max will always be asked to get take out from now on!. Also, Max fought a bowl of wedding soup and lost... remarking that the soup was stupid. Just plain Stupid.

Around 4:30 we moved on the the EXgames.
Once again... a sick display of piloting....
and once again all of them making it look effortless.
I was giving the responsibility of "Head Timing Guy"...
("Bevis - it was suspossed to be $250, THAT's why your time wasn't better!!! )
Best part of the night was the post contest Malay that brought at least 12 foamies to crashing deaths.... Ohh yea Destruction.

Once again a little unwinding was in order so we all met up again at the Bar.
Was this a good idea.. I will never be sure... but I think the video that was shot will defiantly be the judge.
STRAIGHT UP FUN.... CHECK!
Ridiculous flying things, flying in places they shouldn't.... CHECK!
Max going missing, yet again..... CHECK!
BOB.. just being Bob, and everyone loving it...... CHECK
Taking Tanqueray and Captain Morgans 2ND quarter profits to record levels..... CHECK!!!
Laughing at Sadler so hard that your LAST drink comes out of your nose... CHECK!

Understanding that once you see 5am on the clock, 8AM is your sworn ENEMY.... CHECK.

Heres the wrap up from My standpoint.

Toledo show - Good, but a lot less BOMB SHELLS dropped that I thought would be... not as many new products as I expected... but still a first class show.

Flying Giants - Represented well - Infact we killed it. The GIANTS are the only site to watch... and it seems like PEOPLE KNOW THIS!! And the Industry knows this.

The ETOC / EXgames - KILLER EVENTS... amazing display of skills and good laughs.

All the big time pilots - Great group of guys... the one's I didn't know before I do now, and a special shout out to BEVIS, ANIMAL, Jason Shulman, Claus Mejier (from Sweden), Manuel from Mexico, Billy Hell, and all the other guys... thanks for the good times.

After hours - GOOD TIMES.... (legally thats all I'm allowed to say )

GIANTS CREW - MAX, Biff, JeeUm, Conradical, KITMAN, Camera Joe, and all the other guys who came out and said hi... 2 words.. - BAD ASS.
And those 2 words have a Strong meaning for me now.

See you chumps next year!! And in a few weeks at the NALL!!

Sleepy

PS: My scam worked... I completely pulled off the "Business Trip Story" with the wife But now I'm feeling guilty.... but not guilty enough to tell the truth!

Sleepy, I tried to warn you! I told you - every other drink that Max hands you , you gotta dump in the nearest potted plant! Or at least chug a Red Bull in between.

Glad you guys had a good time, and thanks for all the hard work!!

Dear SleepyC,

Seeing that the only favor which I intrusted you with was to pick up my custom painted Helmet dude pilot from Paul @ NO LIMITZ...and you waited untill Sunday to go to retrieve it and the guy had already left for his home in Canada...with my pilot!!!! Now I will have to wait 2 weeks to get the pilot shipped from Canada before I can glue on the canopy for my YAK! Ahhhhhh, I didn't really want to fly it anytime soon anyway!! Really!! I'll just go to the field a grub a flight or two on a .40 size Cub or maybe a Seinor Telemaster! Hmmmmph! Can't trust a boy to do a mans work I guess! Remember the Joe Nall is coming up and payback are a bitc...errrrrrr...uhhh....terrible!

You have given me no choice other than copy your last post about rasing hell, drinking and spending tons of the Family savings from your kids College education account at an R/C Trade Show rather than a "business trip", and send it to your WIFE!! Muuuuhahahahaha!! The fur will fly in Sleepy-town! Is Husband killing punishable in your neck of the Ohio woods? I hope the athorities go easy on her!

Don't bother deleting the incrimining evidence now...it's too late. Iv'e already copied and pasted into my files!! Muhahahahaha, again!

The only way out of this situation is bribery! You say you snagged a new VESS PROP while attending your "business meeting"?? Hand it over as ransome and we will call it even! Bahahahahaa! Just kidding...or am I? I may need to sleep on this to see if my evilness fades! I may get a wave of goodness by morning... but I really hope not!

Ok

1) You ASKED BOB to pick up the Pilot.
2) I was your back up plan. And was not told about this untill I was AT the SHOW!
3) I made an attempt on Saturday but dude was not at his booth. I was instructed to come back later or Sunday.
4) Sunday I dragged my hungover butt over to the booth to find... DUDE had left.... Is this my fault?
I think not. I just think your too cheap to pay the extra $2 for express shipping! I mean whats the thing weigh, 2 oz??!?!

PS... the Vess prop ain't available. My wife hates me already, so do your best!!

It's almost done now! Everything is finished except for mounting the engine and canopy! I did all the hinging and radio install this weekend! Very easy plane to assemble.

I'm actually a little concerned about Joe Nall . Especially after the Toledo show and ETOC. We only had a small size FG contingent. At the Nall we're going to be out in full force. God help us all.

I'm going to be sweating Tanquery and Pizza for the next week.
