Default Futaba 9caps & Spectrum module

ok, I want to go to 2.4 but I really don't like the FASST system, so I wanted to go with the spektrum module for the 9c. my question is this? has anyone had any problems doing this or suggestions on this? also I have read that with 2.4 the responce is faster. is that only with a jr tx, or will I notice a difference in my Futaba?? I love my 9c and still want to fly on 72.mhz but would like to be able to also fly 2.4 at events and other areas. so what's the story on the spektrum/Futaba modules???

i started the thread about using a spektrum module with the futaba 12z and found someone who tried that set-up in a jet and was having lockout issues in the air so i will just be sticking with the 72mhz to compete and just using my trusted DX-7 with other planes going to events.

I was told that the module is not compatible with the radio and nothing can be garanteed. I also sent 2 e-mail to horizon and 1 to spektrumrc and never got a response back from them, its been a week.

I use a Spektrum module successfully in a 9CAP. Locked in feeling, no troubles at all. So far, I have used it with AR7000, and AR9000. Planning on a possible second module for my 9CHP.

www.donalds-hobby.com is the place to go if you desire to "add" a Futaba module/RX combo "to" your "cart".

109.99 for the Spektrum module for the 9C and a receiver. On sale now. Look at sources including valid dealer(s) on ***Bay. I just bought one a few days ago.
I noticed the combo is also available at the above link and other shops also.

good luck

The modules for the 12z and 9c are different models so it seems that the 9c module does not have any problems.
If you try the module test it in a small plane before going 40%

And remember that the flight log is your best friend

thanks for the input guys! I just can't justify buying a new radio right now, so the add-on looked much more attractive. I just didn't know anyone who has used them yet. keep your thoughts coming!!

wrightme, what is the difference between these 2 modules: http://www.donalds-hobby.com/prod/sc...dproduct=42681
and
http://www.donalds-hobby.com/prod/sc...dproduct=42682
the tx module is the same, correct? the only difference i see is the rx( big price difference in the two)
also, stupid question but this is the right module for my 9caps, right?

Correct. The only diff is the RX. Be sure you "add to cart" for comparison shopping. Gotta love the "MAP."

Yes, this is the exact unit I use in my 9CAP. The antenna remount is a bit tenuous, and I broke the plastic antenna replacer. I put the original antenna back in, and use the clamp-on mount. For that price, I plan to get the DMM8/AR7000 to populate my 9CHP next.

I have found no online source to match Donald's.

I purchased my original sets from Donald's during the great Spektrum giveaway, and everything I received was in the factory packaging. I know that the DMM8/AR7000 recently decreased in price, the DMM8 is soon to be sold as a single item, and the DMM8/AR9000 has not reduced in price yet.
I think the DMM8 by itself is ~$40.00, but is not on the street yet. So at the price of the DMM8/AR7000, it is a great deal.

well, just an update, after much deliberation and searching the web, I placed an order through donalds-hobby.com, for the futaba spektrum module with the 7 ch rx and also an additional 6100e rx for the foamies. this will be my first ever purchase of anything jr brand in my flying history. this is also my first experience with donalds hobby. for the price of the spektrum system vs Fasst and the issues i have read on each, I figured I couldn't go wrong with the Spektrum system. thanks for all the input!

I also saw where some people are using a 2.4 wireless router antenna instead of the supplied one, any reports on how well that works?

wrightme, how long did it take for donalds to ship your order?? it's been almost a week now and according to thier website, they still have not shipped my order? I sent them a "ticket" through thier site and haven't got a reply from that either. maybe I am just impatient, but that seems like way too long to not even ship an order.
