Default TT TOC 37.5% YAK-54

I am thinking about buying this plane and would like to know from anyone who has one what they think about the hardware kit and manaul . It looks like the hardware they show in the pictures of the manual is trash . Is the hardware the same as what they show, or is the manual out of date ? I don't want to buy a plane with hardware that i will replace anyway .

I cant speak on the 37.5% but I have the 40% and I love it, it has some of the better craftsmanship of the arf's being built. The hardware for the most part is crap(JMO) as is most hardware that comes with arfs, but I'm picky and only use what I think is the best. The only complaint I have with the plane is the canopy plastic, it is super brittle and cracks very easily. Otherwise I say go for it, you wont be disappionted. just keep everything as light as possible and you will like the way it flies.

I hate buying hardware i can't use . I have a DA-150 to put on it , what do you have on the 40% yak ? they say the 150's won't pull the 40% out a hover very well.

the yak is a great plane but if it was me i would get the 260 or wait for the katana

I have the DA 170 on mine, but if take care to keep it light , a 150 will pull it around just fine. Or you can do like I did and completely modify it so it comes out at 36# like mine did. Look at my thread @ SD Models 40% Yak, giant scale kits , git-r-done thread. Alot of people will tell you to get the 37.5%, but if you dont use smoke and all the other crap thats really not needed, you can keep it light. Also if you were to use tuned pipes it would increase the rpm's , but at a weight increase also.
And FWIW, i've never used all of the hardware that comes in any arf, not even my QQ yak, I dont trust the pull-pull lines they put in them, thats why with the 40% I used push-pull instead.

heres a pic of my 37.5% ,38lbd with a 3W 150 and fuse mufflers ,plenty of power . although right now I am installing a Torch/Kroma T180 with pipes for stupid "faomy" power ..

Im on my second 37.5%er. By far the easiest plane to 3D - IMHO.
I beleive that the 40%er is supposed to be even easier.

For as lite as it is most are coming out at 38 plus to 42 depending on carbon usage and smoke system used.

It does snap kinda funny - IMHO. Lots of squares to stop. It is a good entry level IMAC plane maybe to the intermediate level. Doing some more of the power hungry vertical maneuvers may not be best for this plane - IMHO. With that said - A DA-170 may just be what the doctor ordered. One thing about the plane the airfoil is a bit thicker than most in this class of plane - which inhibits vertical penetration especially with snaps on the vert.

3D is where this thing really shines. Hovers are very easy. Rolling harriers are nice but require alot of Aileron throw to maintain. Straight on harriers are a breeze - very easy to maintain in harrier/hi alpha.

For the money a very very good performing airplane I maybe buying a third before it is all said and done. If I do it will be all carbon upgrades and a DA-170 and three 8711's for the rudder. The Seiko is good but is a bit less accurate than regular servo set up.

I ran 2 5955's on each ail , 2 5955's on each ele., and used the Seiko on the rudder ... GREAT 3D Machine

I used all Futaba 9156's..2 on each wing, 1 on each elev., and 2 on the rudder in push-pull set up. 3050 on throttle. 2 6014 rx w/ novak fans mounted to them, just as a precaution from the heat issues rumored, and it is hotter than hell in so. texas, so I figured better to be safe than sorry. JMO
