Default Why do we ripoff our brothers with shipping VOTE TODAY

I have been getting more and more upset with shipping cost. I have sold recent items on ebay and other places and have never spent more than $11.00 to ship an 8lb item. How many of our motors weigh 8lbs? The answer is NONE!!!!!! We are selling receivers and asking $20.00 to ship. Guys please stop the madness. The only reason to escalate shipping cost is if you are trying to pad your profits and BLAME it on GAS. The other thing I noticed id DROPPING THE PRICE OF THE ITEM TO DRAW INTEREST AND RAISE THE SHIPPING. This is also very poor ETHICS. I work for a 500 company that ships on a regular basis everyday and we charge accual shipping. Because some people have found the need to draw a profit off of our I NEED IT YESTERDAY ATTITUDES does not constitute this problem of ripoff the buyer. I think this tread should be the begining of a stand that we will not continue to pay over priced shipping!!!!!!!!! If you feel the same way vote and hopefully this gets through to all our HOBBY BROTHERS!!!!!!

Hmm.
Just asking if you took into consideration that to properly bubble wrap a motor can cost in upwards of $8.99 now (AT Target), a box can be $1.50 - $2.00, driving to the post office can be a few bucks, and the actual shipping cost is around $9.00, so I actually firmly believe $20 is not too much to ask for shipping a motor.

I know there are some places that over charge for shipping drastically, but in some cases,
when your selling an item such as a motor for a decent used price, why would you absorb all the costs to ship something?

I agree with sleepy. I just sold , boxed up and shipped about 60 different RC car items a couple months ago , and believe me , all that packing , boxes , tape , running them to the post office.....i actually lost some of my money because i didn't charge enough. Seemed like every package ended up costing me around $3.00 - $5.00 more than what i charged. And yes....shipping prices are going up , every stare and location is different too.

I just sent a 2lb 10x radio and case and insured it @$400 for less than $15 from GA to Indiana. I only charged him $15 for shipping. I think I came out .30 cents ahead.

I understand the cost of supply's. I am speaking about the FLAT FEE CHARGING THAT A LARGE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE ARE USING. My father shipped me a 180 saito in the original box inside another box and it cost $8.00 with the purchase of the box. I spent $30.00 shipping for a os 120 shipped the same way and the cost on the sticker was $4.50. A receiver does not cost $20.00 to ship. I don't dispute a DA150 cost $20.00 to ship. PLEASE UNDERSTAND this about FLAT FEE shiping that a ton of people are partaklng in. A powerexpander does not cost the owner $15.00 to ship and this was on a currant add. This is not a shot toward anyone who ships and ask for $20.00. This is a shot towards the overcharging for items we know don't cost that much. Thank you.

people are going to charge whatever they want to charge for shipping, most of the time it is reasonable. If you don't like the price of shipping from a certain seller, send him a different offer, just because it is written in their ad doesn't make it final. Work it out b/w buyer and seller

I've done a fair amount of business on ebay, shipping UPS, Fedex and USPS. I try to charge a fair shipping price that covers the actual cost, my materials, time to box up, and time to get the item to the shipper or post office. Guess what? UPS sometimes costs more, but I can leave the box on the front counter at my office and they pick it up. No way am I driving to the post office and standing in line for 20 mins to save $3. International shipping is different, USPS seems by far the cheapest.

Bottom line is Brandon is right - it's called capitalism. If you don't like the item, price or shipping charges, you can always negotiate or buy somewhere else. It really isn't that complicated.

When dealing on EBAY who cares what the shipping is. I bid according to what I am willing to pay as a total cost. If I am willing to pay $50 for an item and he wants $25 shipping I will only bid $25. The other reason for this is that Ebay does not charge a percentage of the shipping like they do on the sale price.

We are shipping our tailwheels (not too heavy), using boxes supplied free from USPS and shipping them Priority mail for $4.75. We do charge $5.00 for the shipping, It does take some time to box them up.

As a consumer it is irritating to pay more for shipping then what you know it actually costs. I don't mind paying for packaging and time to pack, however, I have received items that have the postage printed on them that I have paid 2 or 3 times as much for the shipping. The post office now has an option to not show the postage when you buy it online.

Yeah - now that does piss me off.. when I know it costs nothing near that to ship. However, I now just go by total price.. if I am willing to pay $50 for an item, I don't care if it is $1 for the item and $49 for shipping, the seller can call it what he wants.

I am also a big fan of combined shipping, I offer it as on option on all my eBay stuff.

I just look elsewhere if the shipping is ridiculous. Ebayers have been doing it that way for years, so its not surprising that others are getting into it as well. No need to get upset over it, since you can always buy elsewhere. And if it's a hard-to-find item, it all depends on just how bad you want it I guess.

negotiate the shipping price or don't purchase! if you are not satisfied with the costs of shipping, don't buy the product. people do try to recoup some of their losses thru shipping....fact of life. agree and pay or disagree and don't purchase! simple eh?

I understand what your saying John, I've had my fair share of paying TBM and other companies $12 to ship me a prop from the west cost of Florida to North Carolina, I sold my DA 150 in March, I offered free shipping to the lower 48 Via UPS, it cost me a little over $50 to send it from Denver to Georgia ground service also needing a box. I brought the Ignition and motor all bubble rapped, UPS wanted to send both in different boxes I also hate that companies Like aeroworks charges you $189 to ship a 35% ARF, Thank god I live down the street from them
