In the recent year, all of us Giant Scale guys went from having the impossible task of trying to find a good high quality, light weight tail wheel, to recently having several amazing choices and designs.
One of these choices is J&J Tail Wheels. John from J&J sent me some pictures of the different stages of manufacturing his light weight, super strong tail wheels. You can see that there is quite a bit of thought and countless hours of CAD design used to get the product just right. Starting from blocks of aluminum the wheel assemblies are cut, and shaped. The tail support wires are precision bent, and the units are put together. So take a look at the pictures supplied, and I'm sure if you have any questions, John would be happy to answer them. ![]() Check out J&J's website at: http://jjtailwheels.googlepages.com/home

This look similar to the R/C Blimp tailwheels, I like this a lot. This J&E tailwheel look like they are pretty light. What is the all up weight for one made for a 35%.
Great pics SleepyC

The weight can be reduced another .5 ounce by changing the supplied DUBRO tailwheel with a lighter 1.5" wheel like a Hangar9 Pro-Lite, MPI aluminum hub wheel for electric planes, or .3 ounce for a Sullivan 1.5" wheel. |

I forgot to add that we can custom bend the titanium wire for smaller planes or specialized applications.
We use the same 6AL-4V titanium wire, this is the good stuff, much stronger (and expensive) than Grade 2 pure titanium. http://jjtailwheels.googlepages.com/custombendpage |

Thanks for the kind compliments guys, it means a lot to us that everyone is happy with our products.
We started this just to make a couple of tailwheels for ourselves, and to try and solve every problem we ever had with a tailwheel. We have been through several iterations to get to where we are now, and have incorporated several ideas from our customers. We intend to be around and make these products as long as people want to buy them, maybe at some point they will provide enough money to support my R/C habit. |

I have never been a fan of the wire tail wheel and have had limited luck with the carbon because it delaminates. The wheel portion and the carbon leaf componet is more to my taste and I believe I saw these at Joe Nall this year but not sure of the manufacture. This really looks trick and look foward to seeing whats in store.
