The fiberglass wheelpants on one of my aerobatic ships are splitting apart at the seam. I have some fiberglass cloth however I have never fiberglassed anything in my life. My question is: What is a good adhesive/resin that can be used in my application? All i want to do is put some extra cloth on the inside of the wheelpant to stop it from splitting. I would like to be able to find something available at either Home Depot or one of the more popular hardware stores. Any suggestions?

Dude.....
use 30 Min Epoxie, I do it all the time. HARD as A ROCK. Thin it with a touch of rubbing alchohol if you want to keep it light (but it takes 4 times as long to dry.)

for something like this yes... Like Sleep said thin it out... try sprayin a little 3M super 77 on the glass before you lay it on and that will hold it in place while you wet it out.

yea epoxy works great but rember use just enough to do the job no sence adding more weight than nessary. the most common mistake is that more resin will help in making it stronger but the glass is were the stringth is at not in the resin.

using epoxy is the ticket, and if you do thin it out with some rubbing alcohol, just use your monokote heat gun and put some heat on that epoxy and fiberglass, not too hot and damage the outer fiberglass. this will speed up "4 hour" cure time with thinned epoxy.

Some ARF manufacturers use Polyester resin to make their parts and not epoxy. To figure out what you have hit the part with a heat gun just a little and then take a smell. Polyester will give off a much stronger smell than epoxy. If it is indeed polyester then run down to the hardware store and get some polyerster. It is commonly called ' Fiberglass resin " another way to be sure what you are buying is polyester is that the hardner is looks like water and it requires just a small amout of hardner. If the part is epoxy then use the metods described above but try to roughen up the area first.

I would suggest buying fiberglass...there are several types of fiberglass, they come with resin and hardener, you have to be careful on the amount of hardener, its like a 6% of the weight of the resin...anyway its easy to do, just cut the fiberglass, add hardener to the resin (its usally 36 drops per 100 grams) and then just put a pice of fiberglass where you want and add resin and wait till it is dry, it has a strong smell
, do it out side, I think that is better than e poxy, I have used epoxy on fiber glass and it eventually comes off, or brakes, so I would go with the fiber glass.(industrial design baby!! ![]() )

Dude just use the epoxy . by the time you buy the fiberglass resin and such. you could of just bought a new pair of wheel pants.
And i would not use the 3m spary adhisve it will clog the pors in the glass matting just put a little epoxy on the inside of the pant and be done with it. just make sure you sand the inside of the pant so the epoxy has something to bond too.
