Don't even mess with aerotech!

If you were going to build that, just build a carden!

This question goes to all of the above. If someone came in and bought the assets, meaning the top five or six planes that he has that do fly very well, put the planes under a different name, take John completely out of the picture, would you buy the planes from another owner.
Leave the sarcasm out of your answer. Please give me a straight answer. Rob

If that someone was you ROB then Hell yes. Actually, anyone with a good rep would be fine

There is nothing wrong with the airframes or the way they fly. They might be a tad heavy but that is because wood selection was not done as precise as some other kits. Hence the lower price of the kits. They can be made light very easily during the build process.

I would because I know they are a Carden with an Aerotech name. I remember getting bashed by John from Aerotech and a bunch others on one of his builds. I posted it on purpose. hahaha He was building something new, cant remember if it was a 260 or 300 or whatever. But it looked exactly like a Carden even down to the cowl. I posted, "Looks like a Carden!" He definitely went off and I was laughing my butt off. Face it, John copied Carden kits. No way around it. Everyone he worked with knew it to and even several at Nall this year that I discussed it with agreed with me (close ex-friends of his). Cant bash his employees at all. They just worked for him.

I know it wasn't a 260 cause he doesn't have a 260. Also the 300 that he has had out for years is no where close to a carden, it doesn't go together like a Carden, it doesn't fly like a Carden and Dennis didn't at that time even have a mid wing in his fleet. The only plane that I've heard anything about is the canopy on the 42% Edge. I worked for John for four years (2003 to Dec 2007). No one has been able to prove the other rumors. So please state the facts not the rumors. Besides the Edge, What does John have that's a Carden? Velox, Yak-54, Sukhoi-26, 44% Giles 202? Rob
P.S. I won't even consider the option to buy if I don't have the support of everyone on the Giants.

Which is the Carden. See the similarites in the front of the plane. The Construction might not be a Carden but they resemble them a lot. Rob, I think it would be a great idea for you to get those plans, change the name and you would probably make some good money. U've built up an awesome reputation for building some awesome planes. Aerotech just needs a stand up guy and I think you would be it!!

Thanks for all the input about this.

Here is my dilema. I would like to build a 35% edge so that basically leaves Carden or Aerotech. I look at the price of the two kits and that is the first issue. Second I like that Aerotech laser cuts all of the parts for you for the forward area. Carden I would have to do it all by myself and lighten the heck out of it. I have also been told by many that buyer beware of Aerotech. So I guess it will have to be either a carden or a dalton unless someone steps up and buys the plans for all the aerotech planes. I would be the first in line to buy one if you do.

Thanks For the input.

Rob,

I'd take another one of YOUR Aerotech kit builds......but I think Competition Airframes has a good ring to it. Aerotech will be a hard brand to turn around.
