Default Re: Smoke System Help

First thing you need to do.

The skywriter is a speedcontrol pump that can take upto 12v. Sounds like battery power isn't an issue so lets look at the next thing.

Have you ran the smoke fluid back into the can instead of the muffler? That way you can verify everything is working at all settings. This will show you the speed at which the oil comes out at all throttle settings.

You have it on the landing gear switch which is on/off. There is a possibilty that your ratio is too low or that there is some kind of mix on gear and throttle.

Lastly---since the ESC on the smoke pump is there....use it. Create a mix from Gear to throttle and at idle you should not be pumping more than half power on the pump (most likely less). At full throttle you will be higher but still shouldn't reach full power. Full power on the smoke pump only wastes oil. You will only see smoke from the oil that is burned. The remainder is just blown out the exhaust over your plane.

Its a fine tune game to get it where you want. Once you get it though it will look good and the bottom of your plane won't be as slimey.
