Well, I went ahead and ordered the Nitro Planes Sukhoi. My wife just called me at work to let me know that the big brown truck just left me a big box at the house......now I have to wait untill I get off work at 11:00pm to see it.

Build starts tomorrow!

I now have 12 flights on my su-26. I had to move the engine out another inch (total 4") (DA-50) and build
4 solid brass 3/4" standoff to add weight to the plane to balance on cg. The plane is extremely tailheavy, has one of the weakest motorboxs I have ever seen on a 30%, and one of the lowest in wing surface area amongst its competitors (only 1333). How Nitroplanes could market this as an 85cc arf is beyond me!! But, who's complaining..it was only $299!!!!!

ps. a big thread on the build at rc-universe..just search forums for su-26

Mine has a half a dozen flights on it now. Mine ballanced fine with the heavy Zenoah twin on the nose. I reinforced the motor box and glassed it in. on it's second landing the landing gear mount let go so I had to repair that and reinforce it also. cracked the cowel when the belly hit so it is patched up until they get replacement cowels in stock.

After about 50ish flights the wings started flexing and flapping a bit in flight so I grounded it. I recently ripped off all the covering and reglued all the joints in the wings and did some rework inside everything. Just got done with the new covering scheme and am painting the cowl and reloading all the gear.

I doubt it. By time you get it to ballance out it is heavy on the wing loading.

If my memory is correct, I think it was around 22 or 23 lbs.

I just bought this plane and they have taken care of all the things you guys brought up. Im going to convert mine to electric it seams like its going to be a nice cheap 50cc size plane for this it should come out to 17lbs ready to fly. This will be my first big plane so I wanted something cheap to learn to land getting them up and flying them isnt a problem its the crash at the end that gets me our grass field can be a littel harrie to land on at times.

So far the only thing I had problems with was the control rods for the elevator they are to short they just dont screw into the ball links far enough for me to feel safe useing them so I orderd some new turnbuckels from troy-built. As far as the rest of the stuff they give you a nice alumnium one piece landing gear and they filled in the wing area on the fus and the motor box is now installed they still make you cut out the covering but a hot soldering iron makes quick work of that . Im going with electric power on mine the plane weighs in at 14 lbs with everting but the motor so I should come out around 17-18 lbs ready to fly.

Ok guys I ended up putting a dle55 in mine this plane is a littel tail heavy had to move the motor out a tad just to clear the cowl and put close to 2lbs on the motor box to get it to balance so its about 19lbs all up. This is a great sport flyer and would be good for someone starting into giant scale planes its cheap and flys verry good. This is my first big gasser and it is a floater even at this weight I think i have about $1500 into it and the only mod i did was put some gorilla glue in the landing gear box to strenghten it for my not so nice landings. Ill get some pictures of it and get them posted when I get a chance.

I just got a brand new one as well. and i am also going to convert to Electric.
i need help from you guys if possible.
1. is this a quality plane that can do some agressive 3d?
2. Is there anything on this plane i need to be aware of as far as defects?
3. Being that im going Electric, what's the best servos i can use without spending a lot of money. i am not going to suffer the vibration of Gas or Nitro so i may not need the best servos. any suggestions?
4. The guy who's going to make electric, can you tell me or advise me what power system you plane on using? i was going to consider a 12s two 6s 5000mah 30c Lipos, 80esc HV and a Nice Large Turnigy Motor,,,,,,any suggestions? on KV??
5. This ARF doesnt look like there's much glueing to do. Is that true? It looks like elevator and Landing gear is the only thing that get's Bolted on. Hinges seems to be the only thing i need to Glue. Is this True?

Thanks guys. i appreciate the support if any you can give.
