Default Matt Chapman 580 Cap

I know that the GP 580 Cap is a few years old, but I would like to know if anyone out there is flying one now, if so how do you like it? I've been looking at it for a plane to just fun fly and the price makes it real attractive.

Awesome plane. I had one. Harriers like no other. It flew very well. I could compare the harriers to that of my Carden Cap.

For the money..its tough to beat. I have one for nearly a year and it was a great flying plane. I sold it February of 2007. One thing...beef up the landing gear area..I had a beautiful landing...It was soft..and no bounce..and one side of the gear folded back and punctured the wing. It was a very easy fix as it did very little damage to the fuse and missed the ribs in the wing. A little extra ply or reinforce with carbon fiber would probably take care of it. I think it is very worth while plane other than that...It is a very easy build and goes together quick. I prefer planes that I dont have to iron, but if I decided to go back to 100cc planes, I would consider one.

I bought one last year and loved mine until the 20th flight (about a week old) when I landed and shook a bunch of wood out of one of the wings. If I had flown for a minute longer, the wing would have folded. Great Planes didn't care, they said as soon as I flew it there wasn't a warranty. It did fly well, but that's an awful expensive airframe for that many flights. I can guarantee that everyone I encounter who expresses interest in that airframe will know how mine turned out and how well GP stood behind their product. At least it looks great hanging from my ceiling.

They've been saying that for over a year now. That's why I bought mine when I did, since 1. I'm not a fan of Riddle, and 2. The old scheme is SOOOOOO much better.

While Matt Chapman was flying his demo at the TAS he announced the new plane. He said it will be 3lb lighter then the last version.

I have had nothing but great service from great planes or should I say...Tower Hobbies. Mine had a crushed cowl...they sent me a new one no questions asked.
