Now, I think that freestyles should flow, and maneuvers should link togethor to put togethor a nice presentation, and not just a sloppy 3D compilation. I think that is were IMAC flying really helped me improve my 3D flying as well. Making things smooth, interlinked and look like they are all inter-twined. As for watching, yeah, I would love to watch freestyle any day of the week over sequence work, its the excitement factor that does it for me. I just prefer to fly IMAC because I find it more of a challenge at this stage, but I still have a good time throwin down when I get the opportunity!
very good ponts here!
All in all, it's really hard to say whom is the best. there are a good bit of different styles at these events..and all said pilots are outstanding in what they can do with their thumbs.. so i guess it boils down to what style one likes personally. i must admit though, i think Kyle takes the cake. that boy has got skillz

I don't know if he's been mentioned or not here yet, but Seth Arnold had my jaw on the ground at the Nats this year. It was insanely good. He did a 360 with snaps and when there was a beat in the music, he would do a 1.5 and show you the other side of the plane. I was sitting with Ken McGuire and Wayne Geffon and we were all laughing because it was just stupid good.

Quote from Ken - "I'm gonna do this rolling circle and show you the bottom of the airplane...no wait, here's the top in case you haven't seen it yet. My name is Seth Arnold and do not suck."

guys I cant agree more than to chose the guys already nominated but we are forgetting a very serious competetor. I have known this guy for the last several years and probably one of the nicest guys in the hobby. every time I see him fly I am left speechless. and for his sponsors let me just say he deserves every bit of help he gets just because of the help he offers to all the pilots out there looking for advice.
check this out guys it Brandon Chitty at ETOC 2008

Ya know we need to get Warrren Buffet to sponser a freestyle event like the TOC.

When we had the TOC who was the Best Freestyle pilot question would be answered!

FWIW - there are so many freestyle pilots out there but not enough venues for these guys to show their stuff!!!

my two cents

I think alot of folks are missing the question. Maybe even the question was posed wrong.

Freestyle vs. 3-D

For freestyle you need a little more discipline and thinking ahead of time to tie things together. The music helps and if done correctly pumps up the crowd. There are set rules in place for it so it can be judged.

3-D is badass and alot of 3-D goes into freestyle. But 3-D is more uncontrolled in that its not a layed out sequence.

I would like to see 2 different lists.......then those who don't attend the big Freestyle events would be seen on the lists. Being good at one doens't automatically make you good at the other and vice versa.

How about this question.

If you can see one pilot fly who would it be?

For me Gernot.
