E-toc videos yet?

Thanks for the offer to have others post video. I was under the impression that VIDEO WAS NOT to be taken at this event. Is that correct? If you have 30 hours of video, why not put a few sequences here to us to see? This will not hurt, and for the record, I can't wait to get the video.

No, personal camcorders were allowed at the event.

Woops, I didn't know that. I taped the whole damn thing from my seat in the bleachers. I read on TNT's website that you could tape the event, you just couldn't sell the product.

I got MrFlash's PM over on RCG.
I can post the videos here, or a link to RCgroups.
There was a 10M file limit over there, it seems there is not one here.
If I posted here I could try for better quality.
I have the first round of the freestyle, shot in 1080i HD.
The only software I have lets me take them off in 720 x 480 DV mode.
Too bad, the HD images are very nice.
Give me a file size, and I will try to match the compression.
Here is a link to Devin's flight to give an idea of what they came out like.

I have started to post the first freestyle round videos.
More will be added as fast as my (slightly slow) DSL connection and having to go to work allows.

I will be happy to post my videos. I have to see if I can get Ken to help me out with it though. I just bought Studio 10, but found out the hard way that my computer will not run it. I only have 256mg of ram memory, plus I only have a Pentium 3 1 gig processor. Not enough. Basically I need a new machine. I will be getting one soon. I know Ken has Studio 9 on his machine, and unlike me, he has a machine that can handle the job. I will check with him to see if we can get the job done this weekend.

Max, can you recommend a good set up, specs wise for a good machine to do videos on? I don't want to go get something, then find out I bought the wrong tool for the job. I was looking at a new machine (tower only) for 800 bucks. It has a 250 gig hard drive, 1 gig of memory, AMD 2.6 processor, DVD burner, CD rom, and fire wire card. I don't have any idea what the other stuff is. I saw another machine with the same specs I listed above priced at 450 bucks. Is what I mentioned all I really need to look for, besides the video card? Both of these machines only come with the operating system.

As for Studio 9, I have never used it. I bought Studio 10 because a guy I work with has it, and he loves it. From what I see, it is very user friendly, and can do a lot more than what I need it for. From what I have seen so far, I would recommend it. I am sure there are a lot of other programs out there that may be better, but for what we do, I think it will do a great job.

Mikey, here's my take on desktops - spend the extra cash and it will pay off, and you'll have a bomber system that will last you a good while. If you can afford it, throw a few more bucks at it - it will pay off in the long run. I take it you're into the video thing? Got kids? Take a bunch of digital pics? (always pays off in the justification department with wifey)!

If so, it's all about hard drive speed, and video card. I immediately closed the emachines link, they are the Chrysler K-Car of computers. The other system is good for it's price, but the video card is way low end, and PCI based.

Personally I would recommend very strongly going with a Dell. In my career, I've purchased and maintained literally thousands of 'em with a very low failure rate. Plus they will show up at your house with parts. Yes, they are more expensive, but their hardware is bomber.

Give me a budget ($1300ish, nudge nudge) and I'll help you find something good. Do you need a monitor?

With Video RAM is KEY.. 2 megs good, 4 megs BETTER!!
The rendering and effects will go soo much faster.
ANd get a 1 gig video card or at min a 512 video card.
as Max said the better you can get the better video editing will be!
