U.S. Scale Masters Championships 2008

Hi All.

Just thought I would post a link and let you all know about the U.S. Scale Masters Championships 2008.

1. Static will be held at Robart’s Arena, Sarasota Fairground. If the weather is good then it will be held outside if not we have a building to use.

2. The banquet will be held at the Potter Building in the fair grounds. We plan to have a steak and chicken buffet with a vegetable, baked potato, salad, rolls, coffee, ice tea and desert.

3. The host hotel is the Hampton Inn located at exit 207 on I-75 Sarasota, FL. Tel is 941.371.1900. Make sure you tell them you are with the Scale Masters Championships to get the rate. It is $94.00 plus taxes. This was the best we could do in this town. The hotel is located about 5 miles from the field. Very easy to get to.
Just to clarify our decision to have the static off site. If we have bad weather this site affords us a DRY place to have static. You can unload and load under cover. It is large. Something like 40x100. Lots of room and well lighted. Also this location is next door to the banquet building so everyone will know where it is. Out side there is an area that we can use to do static if the weather is good. About 3 acres.

OK It looks like it's going to be a great turn out.
Nearly 50 confirmed competitors but probably more like 60 or 70 by the time it gets to Thursday.

I (ACE HOBBIES VENICE) will be there with the USA XOAR distributor doing the rounds, handing out cards and stuff.

Entry for spectators to the flying event at the Sarasota Flying field will only be $5.00

Yes and yes, and 3rd in Expert @ the Championships after crashing into Mt. Trashmore on Sunday.

In Expert - Dennis Crooks - 1st & Grand Champion, Tom Smith - 2nd, David Hayes - 3rd, not positive after that. I'm sure they are or will be on the Scalemasters site.

FUTABA donated 10C's for 1st place in all three classes and Smart-Fly donated products for all trophy winners!

No I don't know who won it or the DA85 other than it wasn't me! There are pictures by Mike Winter on the SRQ website that show the winners, maybe you'll recognize them I believe at least one of them was local.

Found out who won the YAK.

It was a friend of mine call Paul who flies with me at Venice about 18 miles south of SRQ.

He's my mentor a nice all round guy and also one of the few people who can fly that like it's should be flown.
