Hi, does anyone know if Quique's orginal Yak54 used in the TOC is made of wood or composite material? Thanks

They were wood with foam ribbed wings.

Thanks Ryan. That's interesting as I thought top fliers prefer composite?

They usually fly what they can afford.

No. QQ's forst Yaks from the 2002 TOC were wood built by Wayne Ulrey. The 3W comp fuse/foam wing came a year or two later.

I never flew the wood ones. They were prototypes and were a lot heavier than the 3W composite ones.
