My 30% sd yak has a problem with the pull-pull linkage. As the wires run through the plane, they rub on the bottom of the elevator servos. The wires cross right towards the rear then rub the servos then exit and connect to the rudder. I noticed that if i space the servos out about 1/4 of an inch form the fuse, they dont touch anymore. should i just make a nice spacer and get some longer servo screws? IF so, i would like to use som nice aluminum stock to make the spacers. Any problems with that?

Can you post some pictures? I fly the 33% and had no issues. Maybe you could adjust your cables in closer on your rudder servo arm to clear.

I think the issue is coming from the mounting of the rudder servo tray. It looks as if i had mounted it a bit lower, the cables would not rub and would clear nicely. I dont think that moving the epoxied rudder tray is an option. Hence the space out the servo idea.

Are you using the thin slots in the fuse for the wire exit?

How are the cables attached to the servo output arm? Can you move the attachment to the bottom of the servo arm instead of the the top?
Many times we run the pull-pull cables thru a piece of pushrod or other tubing. This could be a simple fix for you. |

Guys,
I mounted the servo tray to high in the fuse so, the wires make servo contact as they run through the fuse. If i could remove the tray and mount it lower in the fuse, they would not make any contact but, that is a lot of work. I even tried moving and turning the connections and even inverting the rudder servo itself but, the tray is too high and i had no luck. I think that by running some pushrod tubing would work nicely. Also, as asked above, yes, the wires do exit the "factory" slots in the rear of the fuse.

Is there a big difference going from 30% SD Yak to 33% TTOC Yak?? Its only a few pounds+ and 8" more wing but I hope its worth the extra $$$, its most likely as far as I can go budget wise.

There is a world of difference from the 30 to 33%. I have both. The 30% is a great plane. It does everything well except hover. It does hover but it just takes more work than the 33. My 30 has a DA50 and the 33 has a ZDZ Super 80. The 33 flies better because of the higher power to weight ratio and lower wing loading. My 33 is quite nice at 22 lb, while my 30 is a little piggy at 19, makes the wing loading a little high.
