My DA 50 is fitted in my freestyle 84" Yak with a full carbon tuned pipe. When she runs she goes well producing 7,400 on a 22/10.
Only 3 gallon total through it's nearly new. First two gallon run in as recommended on mineral now on 50:1 synthetic. New lipo through power-box digi switch. New plug. I've just flicked until I can't flick no more. Cleaned plug often, seems to be wet enough. I've choked and not choked, nothing. Testing the plug external I see a spark occasionally but not every turn of the prop. I'm not sure if this is normal. I've just taken the engine out and checked the carb and valves. All is like new. She suckes fuel in when flicked as seen going through the tube. I've just tried putting the needle settings back from 1 1/4L 1 3/4H to the book 1 5/8L 1 7/8H but still won't start. Has any one a setting used with the carbon pipe? Any suggestions gratefully received before I throw this engine as far as my aching arm can manage. She used to sart well, but now she just won't start. What can be wrong when she does start she goes so well? |

Sounds like the ignition module is bad if it's only sparking occasionally. Get on the phone with DA, they would be able to help you out even though you may have to send it in.

I agree sounds like ignition module. I would maybe try a 6 volt battery staight into the ignition to rule out any switch problems.

When your checking for spark make sure that the spark plug is fully seated in the plug cap. Also the engine needs to be turned over at speed to produce a spark.

I would look at the battery or the switch. Use a different battery direct to the module.
