Hello Forum,
This is my first post as I am new to aerobatic plane flying, I have been flying heli's for about a year and a half and bought my first plane a couple months ago. Problem.... I have read a few articles on plane setup and the benefits and need for mixing for many planes, So I make a few flights to determine if any mixing will be needed. The first test is a knife edge pass, Sure enough the plane pitches to the belly and I go into mix 1 and adjust for rudder to elevator coupling and get that corrected so now it makes a nice straight pass down the flightline while in knife edge. Now for the real problem..... When flying wings level and trying to make a rudder turn the plane really pitches hard to the belly, It will put you into the ground if your not high up. So if my rudder to elevator is already setup on mix 1 for knife edge how can I adjust on mix 2 for more elevator mix when flying level? Will I need to assign mix 2 on a switch for rudder turns when level? |

Why are you doing rudder turns?
Your initial mix is fine on the KE pass... you dont need more than that.

You know I'm having a similar problem with my airplane. I mostly notice doing rolling circles. It can also be a factor in anything wind corrected (e.g. loops).
This coupling is affected by lots of stuff but the only thing we have any control over after the airplane is built is the CG. My current working theory is my CG is somewhat aft and perhaps as the CG is moved forward the difference between flat turns and KE will lessen. Kind of like an image coming into focus. Soon as my engine gets back me and a pound of lead are going to try it out.

You guys need a multi-point rudder mix. With this mix both KE flight, rollers, and rudder turns can be done with no switches. If your radio doesn't have a multi-point mix you won't be able to fix this problem. Making physical changes to the plane will affect other manuevers and other flight attitudes. Let me know if you have this ability in your radio and I'll talk you threw it.
