I know that they were flying in strong winds yesterday. I had a text update earlier today that no one was flying today due to the wind (at that time).

I don't know if I can find an archive for last years winds during the contest. It'll have to wait...packing for a trip.

I spent all day at the Sun Valley Fliers (Phoenix) field expecting pilots coming up to get some practice.

There was one pilot that got four flights in before 11:00 and then left.

There were two jets and two pattern planes between 11:00 and 1:00. They left at 1:00.

There were no planes in the air from 1:00 to 3:00. I left at 3:00.

Today was the best day for practice! We had winds in the high teens, varying from a head wind to a cross wind, and extremely bumpy. If you can maintain postition in this crap you're one step ahead of the rest.
I got 6 sequences in today.
Nobody seems to be too thrilled with the invitational sequences. The pilots don't think they're difficult, they just don't flow well at all, and snaps that all break to the ground is just plain unnatural. I like watching them, though!

I'd like to put one of the new MTW pipes in a QQ 101" Yak, but everyone says they won't fit. I wonder if you could go in an cut out the tabs for the Greeves, split the tubing for support, and then glue it to the supports with silicon glue.
