Since you already have the regulators, Smart Fly EQ 10. Get a Smart Fly optical cut off as well.

if you want to use just one solid unit... forget the regs that you already have and buy a smartfly EQ6TP. this has a turbo regulator, powerexpander, equalizers and ig kill all included. this is THE setup for a 40% or larger craft. it is lightweight and SIMPLE to use..... you've already got a great airplane, fly it with the best power system!!!

good luck and happy flying.

EQ-10, you get to deans inputs and the ability to match each servo to the others on the same surface. Get the optical kill also and use the rest of what you already have.

I am about to start a huge debate and I do not meam to, but here is MY opinion. Use two receivers and NO power expander. With a PE you have put your entire system down to a single failure. If your rx went bad or PE stops working then you crash. With dual rx's you have a redundant system that if one rx fails the other will still work and you should be able to atleast land safely. Talk to Don at Don's hobby shop. He is the one that explained it to me and changed my way of thinking.

I was thinking I needed a PE a few months ago for my 46% Ultimate, I called Don just to do some price checking and he took a ton of time talking to me on the phone and I did not even buy anything from him at that point. Don has been flying big planes for a long time, he has seen alot come and go. Experience means alot to me.

Again, this is just my opinion. I am not trying to start WWIII.

I have an EQ10 with Turbo reg and so far its been rock solid. When I switch over to A123 I will get rid of the Turbo reg and run it straight into the EQ10. I have a PE Sport for my Aeroworks with A123 and it also works flawlessly.

Cliff is right......but in the same breath, what if your transmitter battery dies or your transmitter stops working. If you are on 72mhz with dual RX's.....what if someone turns on the same freq. All of these cause you to crash. You cannot be redundant on everything.

I feel the advantages of having the PE outweigh 2 rx's. Also if you really look into how 2 RX's work signal reception wise you will be surprised (range decrease for one).

Somehow my post was lost in the front of this thread.

Get the EQ6 or EQ10 with the optic kill. Get the turbo reg version if you want to replace your duralite regs. If you already have matchboxes then just get the PE Pro version.

Why not just buy a PowerSafe RX!! A123 bats or Lith and reg setup?
I fly Futaba and have great luck with my Smart-Fly: 14mz Expanders, TurboReg, and Opt-Kill switches.

I like the seperate regulator and expanders as we never know what the bats of the future will be!! I had a few setups before the A123 craze and now have 2 planes on A123 with no reg. It was easy enough for me to take the Turbo reg out of the equation when the need came up.

You don't need a power expander but if that's what you feel you want to use then the Smart -Fly EQ6 is likely the one you'll like. 17.5 amps continuous with up to 35 amp peaks.

Two Batts, Two Regs, Two Switches, Two Rx's and a power lead from one Rx to the other Rx via unused servo ports...
No Power distribution blah blah blah is needed....

Though... if you are limited to say 9 channels and don't want to buy a bunch of regulators and match boxes... the Power Box product might make sense as it incorporates all these features. I dunno if it is cost effective though.

With the EQ6 Turbo Power System or the EQ10 Power expander you get servo matching. You also have other advantages like filtering to prevent interference, Failsafe switch option and buffered output for long servo leads.

The EQ6 is also available without an ignition cut off for those that have no desire for them. Some don't use power expanders at all.

Your on the right track to use a power expander for various reason. Just call smart-fly and ask the guy who sells them is my best advice. He has never steered me wrong.
