Default question on servo travel an resolution

I read in the instructions for my hitec digital servos that the normal travel was 120 degrees, and that the servo could be programmed to travel up to 180 degrees. It further states that if the travel is increased to 180 degrees, resolution will be lost as the number of steps remains constant, therefore more movement per step.
Frequently I need to reduce travel, and I do that in the transmitter which also causes a loss of resolution. My question is, if I use the servo programmer to reduce travel do I INCREASE resolution because the same number of steps will be used for less movement?

Default Re: question on servo travel an resolution

It's always best to shorten the control horn to reduce the amount of control surface travel needed in order to obtain maximum resolution at the surface. Next best would be to limit the travel with the programmer and the worst by reducing the EPA in the radio. Ideally you should use 125% EPA and D/R for your highest rate to get the most out of the transmitter too, although some argue anything over 100% doesn't help resolution.
