Ok ,
I am new to the form and need some info. I listed this at the other place (RCU) and a handful said a 26cc want pull it and another handful said it would hover it. So after talking to a few club members that are on here, I decide to get some fresh opinions. I have the CMPro Giles 202 140 size and want to go with gas. The book says it should have a weight of 11.5-12.75 pounds RTF. Which engine do you prefer. Remember, I am on a tight budget and I don't want to rip the wings off the plane. I am into pattern style flying. This plane is not for high speed either. Can someone help me out. Alot of people are going to the OS160 but I would like to go gas. I was thinking 26cc. Thanks for the help, Jamie Allen |

I am also thinking about the MVVS 160 Gas. Seems to be a good choice.

A 26cc would struggle to hover in the weight range you've listed. A 26cc with a tuned pipe might work (if your budget allows.)

That is pretty heavy for a 26cc Glow (1.60) much less a Gas.. I think I would either use the 1.6 or Moki 2.10 Glow or get into the larger 2.20 4 Stroke range... I do not really see an advantage to Gas until 50cc and up personally..

Jamie,
I would go with a larger nitro, i dont think the 26cc would pull it around very well. And if your on a budget, my recommendation is out of the question. An Evo 26cc gas.(they are powerful and expensive) Also, stay away from crrc-pro. Side note, the harrier flys great.. hows the stryker

I have an Ultimate 120 Bipe and am running CRRC-PRO 26 on it. The engine run great and the flying wt of the plane is 10 1/2 # without fuel. The 26 will just hover this plane and pull out of sight. I know that has nothing left. I do'nt think that it hover or pull 11 1/2 # stright up. 10 # should max for 26cc but we have some in our club that are running SPE 26 and 40/43 and those engines are really performing well. The 40/43 has a little more vibration than the high dollar engines but it is not bad. The price is right. Also the RCGF series engines are great and priced right.

a brison 2.4 would work GREAT in this situation! they are often found here or on RCU for 250-300 bucks! the FPE 2.4 would also be a good choice!
just my $.02

Gas on that plane is not worth the drawbacks. Will fly at 40, land at 50. They don't have much wing area to begin with.
Sorry but the correct answer is.. no gasser for this plane.

im not sure this will help ,but i have a great planes giant super sportster ,it weighs 14 pounds ready to fly. i fly at 4200 feet .i put a crrc 26 in the nose and i love it...it has plenty of power ,goes out of sight vert.no it wont hover, i paid 200 with shipping.this is my favorite knock around plane .i know that the wing loadings are different and such but dont count out the lil chinese gassers for the 120 size planes...also you will love the os 160 ...that was my engine of choice before i went to gas.
