Well folks,
its time to build or should I say it's time for another 3m Install "build" I wanted a Yak in the Flying Giants scheme, had one ordered, it made it to the States, just to have a fork lift fork go through the crate, another Flying Gants scheme was on it's way but that plane was sold to someone else, soooooooo I custom ordered a scheme that I thought might look good in the air so the order was placed, and the waiting game began, two weeks later the plane was completed and loaded on a container that was delayed a week to allow this plane to go along for the ride, I don't know if the wait for the order to go through or the wait for the ship to get to the States is worse, but a week ago Comp-ARF sent me my tracking number, I think the wait for ther truck to deliver the crate is the longest wait of them all especially when there is a weekend in the midst. But on Tuesday of this week it is here. I have already started the build but I will take pictures and discribe as I go. I opened the crate and to my suprise it was even better than I imagined it to come out, I opened it during the night so I only have night pictures but anyway tell me what you guys think of my Idea of the Flying Giants Scheme Yak 55 |

as of now I have the wheels and pants installed the cowling installed and the tail wheel installed, well just need to put the mounting screws in and it will be completed, I am using the J&J tail wheel on this plane, was going to put it on the 260 but I needed one for this plane so it gets the tailwheel

No she puts up with it, She got me an tiger stick for christmas 2 years ago and the bottom fell out after that. Oh I still fly the 300SX all the time, I built a QQ yak 54 101" with a DA 85, the motor shut down on the maiden flight+a tree+low rates= oopsy daisy. So I'm going to get a 120" QQ Yak 54 with a DA 170.

well as with any Composite-ARF, the first order of buisness is to install the landing gear, this was just about the easiest gear by far to install, no holes to drill or measuring to get the holes just right, installed the two legs in place and used two bolts to attach the legs to the fuse.
then to get the wheel pants on the legs it was just a matter of finding center drill axle hole then find the correct angle then mount to the legs with 2 sheet metal screws per wheel pant,I broke on of them flush with the leg,but I think this will not be too bad. before I set the angle of the wheel pants I wanted the plane setting on three wheels as it would be on the flight line so I went ahead and installed my AWESOME J&J tailwheel with four sheet metal screws that held down the top part of the crate the plane came in. Then it was on to mounting the cowl, again this has to be one of the easiest cowl installs to date, matched up the top seam marked a spot to put the top screw in and drilled, installed bolt and blind nut upside down as the instruction say to do, I have done this on all my Compys and has worked great, marked the bottom hole 180* from the top hole drilled and installed the same, the found the two sides and did the same, found centers between them two drilled and mounted, then I mixed micro balloons, milled glass and glued blind nuts in place, I also fuekl proofed the inside of the wheel pants with some fiberglass resin as well. on a side note, the instructions call for a 70mm axle bolt but I used a 40mm bolt with one washer on the outside and three on the inside, perfect fit with dubro treadlite wheels 5" |
