Default QQ 101" Yak 54

Hi,

Looking to hear from people who have flown this plane.

Would like some more info on performance and pics if you have them as QQ's site pics need to show more.

Where is wing position?
Which cannister with a DA85?
Can rudder servo be mounted in tail?
Weight?
Performance with DA85?
Flying IMAC or huckin?

Any insight would be helpfull.

Thanx!

The QQ 101 has an extra long nose, I have to say longer that anyother Yak I have seen, it was made longer to make the airplane balance out with lighter engines in the 85cc range, The QQ 102 was designe for the DA100, the DA100 might be a little heavy for the QQ101, I have the same aieplane with a 3w85cc engine and it balances out good, as far as mods go I had to do some mods to install the 3w85 engine, if you go with the recomended set up DA85 and pitts muffler or greeves pipe the installation will be easy since the fire wall is already marked for the DA85. If your looking for power I have to say theres nothing like a twin engine and the power it delivers, I also have a DA100 with KS tuned pipes in a comp-arf yak 55 and the power is unbelivable and it cant never be compare to my 3w85cc, also I have a 3w110 twin engine on stock mufflers and I love it to.

I installed a BME 110 in my QQ101, balanced great, made no modifications for the engine to fit. Tons of power, out of sight 1/2 throttle. Decided to use the 110 in different plane and installed a BME 102 in place of it. Still no modifications, had to move battery packs back to rear portion of plane to balance. Still awesome power. I fly more IMAC the YAK tracks great. Wanted to use twins, smoother running.
Forgot I did put a larger fuel tank than one supplied, to small for twin cylinders

I too have a "few" of these QQ-101' birds. I'm fitting mine with the BME's as well. I know one will get the new 116 , but may pick up a 110 for another one. Reading through the build threads i have found out that the first thing you will want to do is reinforce the hatch ( because they'll blow off) and the motor box area , especially if you decided to use a strong pulling twin like the BME 110/116. When Chief had these on sale , i ordered one up and when it got here , i took it all out of the box and fell in love with it. I called Larry back at Chief aircraft and ordered two more. I look at it as an investment really. If i wrecked one , i could replace it with another $600.00 airframe. Otherwise , i'd be shelling out about $1200.00 - $1400.00 for another brand name 35% bird. Some guys at my field think i am crazy for doing that , but i disagree. I'll be set on 35% airframes for a while.
