Friday 2008 TAS - Race to the CUT!
The intensity is thick today, the reason...... its the first day of cuts!
After the next two rounds major trims to the field of pilots will be made in each class. Pilots basically have today to maintain their leads, or make a comeback, or their Tucson trip may be at an end. Sportsman and Intermediate will only push the top five through to tomorrow, while Advanced and Unlimited will push the top seven from each class. So everyone is on their "A" game. We will continue to shoot videos, and take pictures, and bring you as much information as possible. The flight line is running two lines again today, and the wind is up a bit, with higher winds expected later in the day. We will see if the changing winds effects the pilots as the flights continue. Everyone is looking forward to the only noon time demo that is amazing enough to grace the flight line of the Tucson Shootout,MR. MATT CHAPMAN and his Cap 580!! Matt was spotted practicing in the light atmosphere a mile or so from the flight line yesterday. We really hope the weather holds for him to give everyone here a show to remember! Another little shout out goes to FG's own KITMAN who is the rookie announcer for the shootout this year, Greg is doing a great job keeping the flight lines moving, and is funny enough to break the tension a bit. So NICE JOB GREG! OK, back to filming and taking pictures. Here are a few shots from 7:35 am this morning!

Righty folks, just to change the tune a little today I will try to get a few interveiws with the pilots and of course some more sequences. The wind is being sort of kind right now buts its in the pilots back so lots of cross box correctins and work on the lines needed today.
Here's my first interveiw, hope you enjoy it. The guy has talent and a great personality and all that at only 10 years old. |
