Hey guys, the first round of freestyle is done, and MAN.. what a show... every single pilot was amazing. I have to say everyone is stepping up their game. No holds barred , all the way.

Hats off to Bill Hemple for rocking his 50% cub with a 3W 275 in the nose for his Free Style plane!
Talk about a HOOT!!

Also.. A HUGE BAD ASS SHOUT OUT to Mr. Matt Chapman, who again performed an amazing noon demo. He flew a tandem sequence with Frank Noll, and then did a full air show routine, which included a torque roll that lasted for at least 15 seconds, shortly after Matt gave a shout out over the mic to Flyinggiants... MAN.. THAT WAS A GREAT FEELING!
THANKS MATT!

Below are a few teaser shots... our band with is minimal today, so we will have well over 1000 pictures and videos going up on line once were back to the hotel!

AND.. yes Gernot crashed. His motor died on an abrupt up line.
All the competitors came together and helped him get it back together for the next round.
So yes they battle, but they are all friends at the end of the day!
Great sportsman ship by all!

Default Re: D DAY in the Desert.

Few personal Observations.

Kyle W is a Sick pilot. During the first round he flew so low he missed the ground by mere millimeters several times.
He is by far the crowd favorite, but I'm not sure he will score really well with the judges, I did not see to many of the point grabbing maneuvers.

Seth Arnold is kicking ass in his first TAS freestyle. He is flying like a veteran. I hope he does well.

Mark L, Andrew Jesky and Jason Knoll are all flying on their "A" game.

QQ used "crow" on his Bi plane, and basically stopped it in its tracks.

Chris Brislin from Team Aussie was the most fluid pilot. His routine was completely in time with the music. GREAT FREE STYLE!

AND...

Frazier Briggs gets the award for most Bad Ass and original music. I heard swear words, and a pantie reference. Very nice.. very nice.....
Way to go Frazier!!

Brass Balls Award: For having sack.. - Issue reason: For having the SACK to photochop two of the most respected names in the hobby into precarious photographs. See http://www.flyinggiants.com/forums/showthread.php?p=90555 The Golden Turd: A time honored tradition. Awarded to members who are deserving of ridicule for their antics in the community forums. - Issue reason: For this: http://www.flyinggiants.com/forums/showthread.php?p=87645 enough said. Way to go Frazier!!

Ha that's our chrisby hes amazing how perfect his timing and chirography is to music the "whole" flight, its all perfectly planned and perfectly executed its unbelievable how hard that is to do. Hes got the skills to cut loose in a violent way but he definitely chooses the hard way in sticking to the plan with minimal improvisation.

and frazer hes the fun guy in the sport, most creative he gets me laughin..
