Congrats to Mark on four in a row! I first met Mark 8 years ago when he was just a punk kid from Las Vegas flying in the Don Lowe Masters. Mark was flying a Hanger 9 260 in freestyle as it is much quicker to put one of these together and not such a big expense if something happens. With the level of freestyle pilots out there you really have to take alot of risks if you want to win. Its really cool to see the young guys progress after just a year. Chris Brislin, Gernot Bruckman, and Seth Arnold are top freestyle pilots now and it will be really tuff competition in the years to come.

Marks pattern plane is within the 10% rule and I have the documentation to prove it if its needed.

As for the boat race we held a mini boat race at a BBQ on Monday night at Daves house. We had 9 people on each side and I am proud to say we kicked their a**!!! I think after seeing our team the ROTW decided to lay low and get the hell out of town. I will round up some pictures and post them hear.

Thanks to everyone that participated in the 08 Shootout. I hope everyone made it back home safetly and had a good time. We will do it again next year so start planing to attend.

Bob,

We did some quick math for the length, it makes it with 3 inches to spare.

Is this even in question, Invitational is not an IMAC contest.

Does the plane that Mark is flying have the same wingspan as the 300ML kit? The wings look clipped.

I think there should be a rule that only pilots can participate in the Boat Race.

But who said CHEERLEADERS? Yes, bring 'em!

Yes go to the DA web site and read the rules for the contest they state that the contest will go by the 2007-2008 AMA RC Scale Aerobatics rules and the 10% rule is one of those rules ,,,,,,,, but as Tony said his plane is within those rules !

If you do that you may not have enough people for a team .

Great coverage guys. And uber-classy move by QQ to pass on that engine. That 170 must have been half the size of Spencer!

I'm not screwing around. The way it went down this year wasn't good, and I had no prior knowledge that I had to do anything but say "START"!

SO... 2009.

We will have online team try-outs starting in August.
Team will have 10 members and 2 alternates.
Rules:
1) You must be 21.
2) You must be in attendance at the 2009 TAS
3) You must be ready for battle. Frazier is a mean one, and quickly MOCKED US!

We will do video try outs.
The pledge will hold a stopwatch to the screen and chug.
The top 10 will be picked to represent the USA in 2009.

We will destroy....
I can't wait!

OH.. and we need some cheerleaders! Scantily clad Cheerleaders!
How about the guys that qualified for the 2008 Boat race? We should already have our names on the 2009 Boat race team list.

If it is within 10% of the Python he could call it whatever he wants.

I would like to say a big thankyou to Troy Brodrick, for those who don't know, Troy is my brother. When he was over at TAS 2008, he won a DA-100. He donated this engine to me to help me with my IMAC and is going in my new QQ yak which I can't wait to start building. Troy you are the best brother anyone could ask for. Thankyou for giving me the opportunity to persue this sport to a greater length.

Regards,

Luke
