Boex.

I will have the first ones up tonight mate. Its taken a month of Sundays to render these from the native HDTV format to mov files.

I have 40 Gb of video and it takes about two hours per Gb to render it to a format that is compressed but with little loss of quality.

Tonight mate.

Guys,

Here's the drum on getting these videos into a super high quality yet still compressed enough to not have you mortgage the house for band width.

The RAW AVCHD files are nearly 40 Gb in size. Yes HDTV is very heavy stuff in raw form. To decode that to .mov but in 1900 x 1080 takes about 2 hrs per Gb. So there went 40 hours with the Mac running both processors at 90 plus percent. Yep its a dual pro system with more horsepower than my Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel.

Ok so now I have my super large HD quicktime files that need to be edited, wipes, titles and music added. That usually turns out to be about 3Gb for a five minute video. Now I need to render that into a H265 format so you can see it, there goes three hours just for that five minute video. Multiply that by 12 videos or so and you see my weekend flying has just taken a dump.

Now mix into that the fact that my business takes up 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday. Give me 10 minutes for snack and its nearly 11:00pm and we have ONE 5 minute video.

But is it worth it?? Yes to me as this is a hobby and what I'm trying to give you is old news in the absolute best format possible for your veiwing pleasure.

So guys I got the test one out yesterday and hid it in the Aussie forum to see if it worked.

Here is the link to it and its roughly the format I will take with all of them. Oh I forgot also that the freestyles I am trying to get the pilots music so it gets rid of the wind and air noise, then I need to synch that exactly to the original video so you really see if the flying was timed to the music and if not where it missed.

Its my hobby doing this stuff guys, you will get to see them all I promise, but its really a looooong process.

Look for post 266 I think it is. Its the only video in the thread.

Kiwi - Dude, you are dedicated. I would have guessed you for a corporate man for being so PC about all the responses for vids and not losing it.

I am obsessed with this hobby, with a job that has me traveling 50% of the time, 2 young kids, a wife, a dog, 6 fish, a few house mice and everything else that goes along with everyday life. I can't imagine spending as much time as you are trying to get these vids out to all the addicts that couldn't make the shootout. I was lucky enough to be there as a spectator on Saturday and loved it, even though it was ungodly windy. I do fly IMAC and hope to make it next year, but Kiwi, you are the man. Please send me whatever you are on. It must me some good shheeeeaaat. Also, if you have anything I can give my wife to help her deal with my addiction, it would be much appreciated!

I look forward to meeting you next year! FG rock.
