I was thinking a venue that is more "Spectator Friendly"....

You gotta remember something on that note...the competition is 95% Sequences and 5% freestyles...99% of the population doesn't wanna come out and watch airplanes fly straight lines...

True...
But 95% of the spectators watch that 5%.

The TOC was the same....
So it boils down to the goals of the organizers...
HAve an awesome IMAC'esque event to really challenge the best pilots in the country/world
(OK.. thats what it is now)

or... (I would suggest is more important in the long run to the hobby industry)...
Have an event that is more interesting and accessable and likely to inspire people to become new participants... (Maybe that is what the XFC is?)

I realize this is Dave Johnsons gig and of course he is free to do as he sees fit... no one can argue the success of his company.....

I just know that myself (and many of my friends) would rather go someplace with better weather and less dirt, less dust and less wind to spectate "Free Style" type flying....
I might even pay to see it!!!

Oh Yeah... congratlations to Mark!!!! He is definitely establishing himself as the "Hanno Prettner of Large Scale Aerobatics in the 21st century".

Dude! I've never enjoyed watching Bill Hempel's freestyle routines, but this year, with the cub, it is totally awesome!

BOAT RACE!! The boat race should be moved to Saturday after noon from now on, IMHO! We had the qualifier on Saturday afternoon without a problem and many were eager to kick some ROTW butt! We even had Mrs. Powell qualify for the boat race. After watching the USA team qualifier, I think Bogan and his team of foreigners knew they did not have a chance of winning the race. It's too bad the Boat race organizers failed to get it together, but there's always next year.

100% agree. In fact we insist its on Saturday directly after the last flight!

Sunday was so hectic with all the flying, and prizes, and podium shots. And of course it was our obligation to bring you guys the results as soon as possible, by the time that was all done, people were spent and there was no time for the race.

Also, there is some planning involved with getting the race together... cups, a table, beer.... we had none of this because at 4pm I was asked "dude can you run the boat race?" I said sure... thinking that the supplies were already on premises. Don't be fooled I take the boat race very seriously, and now that I know it's 100% my responsibility.. it will be ON next year... BIGGER than it ever has been before. I say lets add prize money!! Lets add prizes!!! Lets add beer pouring girls in bikinis!!!!! BRING IT ON ROTW!!!!

Wish I would have stuck around, would have been fun to compete with the worlds best pilots in the only way I can! Sounds like next years race will be off the hook!!! Congrats again to all the pilots, what a show! Just watching the pilots land after their sequences on Sat was a good enough freestyle for me! 364 more days
