overall I like it very much. But after this week's Shootout I think a 118" plane with a little less drag and a little heavier, like 39 pounds, with a piped 170 would be more ideal for windy flying.

Oh - FWIW - Tony will build to any level of completion.. That includes the sweet painted engine cowl and painting the canopy(glassing into the front turtle deck) sweet stuff...
How recently did you talk to him? With his new full-time job at DA, I don't think he plans to build anymore - kits only. At least that was what he told me a few months ago.

He is still doing bulding stuff - his website is still up also!

So, would 2 8711's on each aileron be ok or do I need to go with 3 on each aileron to get good performance?

I'd be using A123 batteries so as long as 800 in./oz. of torque is enough. I read that Jesky likes 3 servos/wing to prevent warping and Leseberg set up his sequence plane that way to; however, I think Leseberg was trying to add weight if I remember correctly.

So I've been doing some thinking and I'm pretty sure I could handle 95% of this build myself maybe even in my shop. I'd have to move some things around, but I expected that from the beginning. I think after going over the build threads by JPRC and JeremyHolt that I could do the coring of the wing myself (if I went that route) and would maybe just need some input from them on who makes a good cutter. I also went back and looked at a thread a very influential guy in my life did for a wing press:

http://www.flyinggiants.com/forums/f...press-jig.html

Considering it would be a couple hundred bucks to have the foam put on the surfaces, I could go this route for less. I need to email him and see how his wings turned out.
