Well I tested out the TBM carbon fiber spinner this weekend. The spinner was a 4 inch. Some friends of mine help be cut the spinner for a Xoar 27 3D prop. I drilled the backplate for my DA-85 and mounted everything up. The spinner came with a 5'' 10-32 flat head screw. I cut about a 1 inch or so off of the bolt because it bottomed out in the threaded part of my crankshaft.
The spinner is has a very glossy finish and it is very similar to the azure hobbies CF spinner I also have. As far as weight the TBM spinner is 3.2 oz. and the Azure hobbies spinner is 3 oz. The TBM spinner turns very true and was well balanced. This spinner is light weight but very strong and is easy to remove. I the only down side I have is with the bolt that is supplied with the spinner. The bolt seems very weak and after about 2 flight the spinner would began to shift and touch the prop. Then I would heard a rattling noise coming from my prop touching the spinner. I tried blue locktite on the bolt and it still would not stop the spinner from shifting. I am going to try a grade 8 allen head bolt to put more torque to hold the spinner in place. The azure hobbies spinner uses the same bolt and it have never moved. Other than that I would recommend this spinner to anyone who wants to add a slick look to the nose of your plane and lose some weight in the process.

the price includes a cut spinner with the appropriate bolt. TBM charges $2 for bolt and $10-15 for cut. i just just don't like to be nickel and dimed.....

I have been using one of the TBM 5 inch spinners on a DA 100 for about 10 flights and it seems OK so far. I did have them cut and drill it but got a good grade bolt from ACE Hardware. No problems at all so far and it is a good looking spinner.

The Azure price is CAD so with the exchange rate it is a bit cheaper. The nice thing is that it is coated with the final finish after being cut.

Cutting it isn't a big plus for me as I rather have it fit the prop I am using instead of a generic profile that fits all/most props.

We got a fix for the spinner problem. I changed to a allen head bolt and used a lock washer to secure the spinner cone. After flying a hard 10 minute flight the spinner cone remained in place and no loctite. Problem solved
