I wonder how their "Supersteel" will stand up compared to hitec's TG. Still, it looks like a nice servo.

I'm afraid that "SuperSteel" is more marketing bamboozle for the same gear trains that are in the 8711 and 8611. For $200.00, you'd think they'd be able to move to Titanium and even gold plate it. Oh vey.

I like the aluminum mounting sections. Be interesting to see how the gears hold up. I somehow doubt JR will let that be a weak point, considering its past. JR probably called it super steel so they didnt look like they were following hitec.

I have a feeling they won't be $199 street price. I don't know of any body who would buy them for that price.

yeah for $200 they are not worth it...if they drop to $110 or so like the 8711 is right now I would be all over them.

I'd like to know what metal "SuperSteel" really is before I consider this servo. I'm not looking for a diversionary answer or argument that the new metal case provides better support, hence less gear wear, yadayadayada....

Hey JR, what metal is "SuperSteel" and what is different about it than the metal used for the 8711 and 8611 gears?

exactly. My 8711's aren't oscillating yet, but the gear slop is very evident, and I am starting to notice that the plane doesn't hold trim like it used to. THese need to be completely guaranteed to NOT be a problem, EVER, before I consider a $200 servo, and what about all the other channels (smoke, choke, throttle, ignition kill, etc.) that don't require hv servos? Looks like you will still need a regulator...

The servo is rated at 480 in/oz at 7,4 Volts. So to get the rated torque you would have to fly Li-Po or similar chemistry. Anyone running 6V would only get approx 390 in/oz torque or about 420 in/oz with a fully charged 6V Nimh or A123 battery.

dosent matter. the first gear is still stinking plastic. super steel and i guess super plastic. so what you going to power just that servo. then regulate it for the rest.
