Default WHOOP...Got a TREX!

I've been wanting to get into helis for a while now, but no one at our club really flys them. Well, we're finally getting a hobby shop in town and the new owner flys them. He also owns powerhelis.com if ya'll have ever bought anything from there. Needless to say, I went out on a quest to find a good used TREX and instead found a complete new one for $375. It has the Futaba GY401 gyro and the JR mini heli servo pack. This is going to be sweet!

Now all I need to do is either find a good used DX7 or someone to trade a Spektrum 6100 RX for a Futaba PCM RX (preferably the R146).

Well, my TREX showed up today and everything looks to be in one piece. Can't wait to get out and fly it!

Awesome buy man!!!!

i had one of those guys, except in the carbon fiber version. Flies really really great once you get it dialed in (which can take a while). Take the time and set it up and you will be rewarded.

i had mine for a little while, then sold it off to get more planes. they are very very fun but i couldnt handle the whole flying and learning new tricks and crashing. got kinda hard on the wallet. so i got rid of it but wish every day that i had it back.

Yup, I bit the bullet as well. Although I wasn't nearly as eager. I have put this off for years. I try to limit myself to only a couple of hobbies. I tend to go all out and my wife is understanding enough as is.

My analogy is that just because a basket ball player plays his sport with a ball doesn't mean he is automatically going to enjojy soccer. See what I mean. Flying r/c planes is an entirely differant beast then the Heli's.

On that note I errored on the side of caution and got a full Carbon fibre T-Rex 500 totally hopped up. Everything including packs and extra blades, machined grips GY-611 Gyro etc. for $900.00. I saved close to a thousand bucks It's totally new and I just finished putting her together. Now all I need it Sprice to come by and program the sucker for me. He has the same gyro in a t-rex 600. Should be a blast. I have been practising on the sim now for the past month and orientation does not seem to be an issue at all. Even doing rolling cirles already. We'll have to see how that translates into real flight. Yeah I know , It's differant than on the sim. I figure I should be able to fly it like a plane land it and go home. Hope so anyway. No tricks first day out. Now I'll just have to wait for the rain to let up. Maybe next week.

Let us know how your first flights go.

Good Luck!

HL

Ben,

There is getting to be 4 or 5 people flying heli's at Temple. Heli's are a lot of fun. Have you flown one before?

Thanks dude, there's a guy opening a hobby shop hear. He flys helis and likes teaching people to fly helis. I need to hit him up as soon as my X9303 arrives.
