I got this to follow up after I wrecked my E-flite 260 extra from a while back. Have three flights on her so far and it's a hoot. Rock solid in elevators, inverted spins, and blenders. Turns lots of heads here at the embassy. Not a hint of wing rock. I'm not using the 3300 TP's in the picture right now as I don't have the right balancer plug for them. I've got a pair of 2200's that weigh next to nothing. Makes this thing a feather. It'll just hang in the sky with a little breeze.
Cool stuff. Might be able to get some vid here before too long. Cheers, C ![]() ![]() ![]()

You are so lucky, every shop in the UK is out of stock of the su29's 50E version, they have the 30E version but not this one. Glad you are having fun, cant wait to see some video.

Well, some updates:
It flies awesome. Like way beyond awesome. Ok, that's the good. Now not so good. I was landing the other day, coming in nice and easy and all is well. I'm less than two feet off the ground and I start to flair. I stalled it and it dropped like a rock. Tore the landing gear out of the fuse but was lucky as it was a pretty clean break and it required minimal work to repair. Creative use of tongue depressors from the med clinic fixed it easily. I take full responsibilty as I was kinda asking for it. I wanted to do the "hover and land" trick I see so often on video and I screwed it up. My advice is anyone buying this, take some time to build up the LG area of this plane. It's a royal biche to get to cause of all the stuff in the way, but well worth the trouble. This landing was not that hard IMO. I know manufacturers are in a constant struggle to keep things light as they know guys will complain if a plane is heavy, but for me added meat in this area is well worth it. Also, take the time to CA the snot out of every joint you can get to. There are a couple spots where they were very conservative. Overall, very nice model and it flies awesome. Just a few minor things to pay attention to during assy. I'll see about video today. Cheers. C |

I have heard all good things about this plane except someone said upright high alpha harriers the wing rocks real bad. He did have the cg at the forward end. If he moved the cg back the wing rock would probably go away. Anyone have the wing rock issue?

I agree this is the top of the line in 30e planes. I have the PA Extra "BLEeeUCK", The Cermark 49" SU26 "not bad" and this jewel. Absolutely no bad habits. Super easy to slow roll on a straight line. Walls are perfect. 0 wing rock. It will do rudder loops. Not very tight though with my cg setting. (Can't go back much more cause my landing zone is small and rough) I did rip the gear out a couple days ago but everything pushed back in and got re-glued. It's definitely the plane I've been searching for. Something that flies like a big gasser but ready to take out back and get some evening flights with.
My note of caution is... My first one crashed when the HS65 elevator servo died. It broke up the motor mount. Shatered the cowl and cracked some fuse parts. All repaired except the cowl. Chief didn't have extra cowls so I got another kit. The new one is flying with the first wings. So except for the cowl I feel fortunate to have another almost complete plane ready to go should something go wrong. The new plane is set up with dual ele servos. Fut s3157's. I aint going through that again! Pull pull on the rudder. Fut s3102. Hightech hs65mg on ailerons. And a CF gear from Graph Tech. I used the one for the GP Giant UDO but had them cut it down to fit, then I ground it down some more till it weighed the same as the stock gear. Still quite stiff but it won't be knicking props from flopping a landing. |

What is your flight duration and batteries with the two elevator servoes?
Where is the best deal to get one if these birds? Last edited by Major3d; 10-22-2008 at 10:03 AM. |

It has a Hacker a30-10 XL. Swinging 14x7 and 15x7 Xoar props. Mostly I use the 14" prop, the batteries come down just warm. The 15" prop gets them a tad warmer.
I'm using EVO 25c 2500's on the 14" prop I do 8 minute flights. When doing mostly 3D flying they need about 1600 mah to recharge. If I'm doing a lot of high speed stuff and power climbs it will take about 1850 mah in 8 minutes. The extra servo should actualy reduce power consumed. A hard working servo will draw energy more than 2 servos working easy. Far as I know they are only sold by Chief and one other dealer online. http://www.chiefaircraft.com/rcmsec/Models/Model.html |
