I'm installing my servos I'm a newbie. Once I install the grommetts in the servo which way do you put the brass insert from bottom or top? Any help?

I have always put them on from the bottom.

Yep, from the bottom so that the flat brass base is resting on the airplane servo mount. If you go the other way they try to cut / punch into the servo mount, especially if it is wood.
