Default My New Design - Extra Extra 71" Saito 180, Syssa 30CC, YS140, etc.

Thought I'd post a few pictures and video links of my newest plane design the Extra Extra. It's based on the highly thought of Jeff Williams extra and has proven to fly extremely well. This design has been flown with a Saito 180 and YS 160 DZ but is also well suited for a YS 140, Saito 150, and the Evolution 26GT (and most gasser rail mounts in this size). With the Saito 180/YS 160DZ it weights in at 9lbs even ready to fly (everything minus fuel). It's wings are 1,383 sq. in. with a wing cube loading of 4.9 Nose to tail it is 66.5" long . If your interested it's now available in a CNC/Laser Kit form.

Here's a link to the build thread as well as some flying videos.

Andy's right about it flying light...the wings are 1,383 sq. in. but what's 23 sq. in. among friends
The cool thing to me is it flys like a foamy w/o the disadvantages of a flat wing PLUS it can handle wind really well. Most are coming in at 9lbs to 9lbs 1 oz. There's one being done now that will be in the 8.25lb range and will fly with a OS 120AX (takes some mods to balance it though).
