I've got one of these katanas last xmas, Im just waiting to crash my current plane to free up the gear...you're right about the hardware, I don't plan on using it. DL50 for me too.

rcolle-since when do you care about hardware you cheapskate! I bet you dont replace anything on that plane specially since its only going to last 1 or 2 flights. Good luck with that hotdogg swallower.

I was trying to put one of these together but I think mine was an even more exceptionally tail heavy airframe, I mounted a three and half pound 45cc on it, with standoffs that brought the engine past the front of the cowl, and mounted my batteries on the firewall.
CG was still two inches back and it will take another 2.5lbs on the firewall to touch the recommended CG. I think this plane might get retired before it ever gets into the air. |

Try Pull pull for the rudder servo, strengthen the FW, longer stanfoffs, all batts in the front and no CF spinner

Knife Edges were linear with a little Rudder to Elevator mixing (10% on the 12Z)......going lower

check out giantscaleplanes.com look at the 80'' cap 232, only 150 bucks or so, i bought one, and it seems pretty nice, but no hardware at all....

Crashed the Katana. Had all its bad tendancies worked out, balanced perfectly then I got stupid.
It has been replaced with a 85" Aeroworks Yak-54. I still have the katana fuselage if anyone needs it...not too bad, gear ripped out though. the plane went down in the bushes so mainly the wings and elevators were destroyed |
