Yes, 1bwana1 my Pass Port is electric. I am currently running a Hacker 14XL inrunner with a hacker 99 spin jedi ESC. I am not sure if you get the K factor every month or not, but I was on the front cover of it and it shows what I have in it. My batteries are 5 cell, 5200 thunder power prolite packs.
Thanks, Matthew Liprie |

I must tell you guys who are planning to go glow with this plane. You can if you want to but this airplane is really meant for electric. I know that it can use glow and electric, but I am telling you the airplane will not last line with a big YS in there. It needs the electrified power for maximum performance.

Hi Matt,
The plane is so soft as arrived from the factory that I wouldn't even fly electric without stiffening it some. Regarding longevity with the YS, I doubt that anyone who has ran YS has boxed-in the fuselage like I have done. If someone has done all this and the plane has still disentegrated, please let me know. From the nosering to the wing adjusters the plane is as stiff as the Osmose I had. To my hand, the plane seems fine. I'll keep an eye on it though for sure. Matt, do your elevator hing lines sweep forward too? Thanks, Jim - also - I don't mind flying electric, its the buying batteries, charging batteries, and the potential to burn the house down that bothers me

Jim your build seems to be going great, The plane looks awesome. after seeing Chip fly the passport at Nats it was prob. one of my favorite to watch fly. It really presents very well.
Is yours equipped with the split rudder option? cant wait to see it fly at Tangerine. Chris Odom Team Black Magic |

Thanks Chris - straight rudder, will have servos for elevators in the tail.
Here are some shots of the tape lines. This is going to be similar to my Osmose, but with more color flares along the top of the turtle deck. I nstill eed to tape the bottom lines of the plane, but ran out of energy late last night. The tape lines are dead-asz parallel to each other and when you look from the rudder to the nose on both sides, all lines, radii, and angles match. This is close enough for me. The plane is HUGE. It takes a long time and patience to lay out the tape lines, and my scheme is simple compared to the CA scheme. I can't work on the plane tonight, so I'll finish masking Saturday morning and begin painting. My plan is to finish the paint job and clear by Saturday night. ARF or ARC????? FWIW - it cost me $195 to go to Finish Master yesterday and get 4 pints of colors, reducer, acetone, laquer thinner, degreaser, fine line tape, tack-cloths, hoodies, etc. It would have been more if the plane had not arrived already white. Painting is very expensive by the time you add up the actual costs, and your time to try and get it right. While the scheme is not that complex, my primary goal this time around is to "one-time" shoot each color and ultimately, a nicely wet-out clear, that is not too heavy ![]() Thanks, Jim

Jim, I just talked to Nat today and he told me that you called him ( I Believe ?). Yes, I believe all of the elevator hinge lines are forward for the anheadral in the stab. I know for electric though you do not need to stiffen it up at all. It is actually stiffer than the genesis which is good. As I said before though if you are going glow then you do need to stiffen it.

I'm curious to see how your paint job turns out. I'm at a similar stage myself, just need to come up with a design first.

I'm also building one of these. I bought an unfinished one from Chip last weekend after I midaired my e-Pinnacle at the contest. I am also planning on running the Neu F3A motor. It's plenty stiff and should be a fantastic flier. I'll post some build pics to show how I mounted the motor. It might be a couple weeks before I get it installed since I head back to China late next week. In the meantime, make sure you check out Todd Blose's post about this on RCU. Good to see you are going to be flying a pattern ship. Once I started flying my electric F3A machine I haven't touched my 40% Dalton. I'm putting that one up for sale. later. Steve Hannah |

Steve,
Nice to hear from you, but sorry to hear about the mid-air at the contest. I think I heard the Alex from Fliton also had a mid-air at the last contest. Was it the same incident? I spoke to Steve Neu yesterday, and he thinks my motor may be done today. I will be writing an article on Steve Neu, the factory, motors, and in particular the F3A motor, so keep an eye out for it. I have heard the Neu/Passport combo is a great setup. I did read Todd's thread, and found it very useful. I am looking forward to giving pattern a try. Not thinking of selling my ZN-Line though. Hopefully, I'll see you at a contest or two in 2009. I thought I read somewhere that China had closed due to the bad economy, must have been mistaken. LOL!` Too many Steve's in this post.... Yes - I will try the T-cannalizer if the plane needs anything "extra" on it
Here are some pic from today's efforts. I love the scheme!! I will clear it tomorrow.I got smart this time and setup the masking scheme so that I could quickly get to the next painted area, and only had to mask the just-painted area. This is the way to go!! Thanks, Jim

Looking great Jim, I really like the scheme. Wish I had the paint skills you have.
Mine came with the side force generators on the wings, but no "T" Cannalizer. Is that a new option? Have you heard which works better the SFG or "T" Cannalizer? |

Thanks Steve, At this point I will not try the SFG's until later. I posted some comments about the Osmose with and wihtout the T-can on my Osmose thread. I like the effect it had on the plane a lot. So, I'll fly this Pass Port clean, then try it with the T-can later. It is not an option in the kit. I saved the T from my crashed Osmose (RIP).
Jim
