Thanks Jason. I think for tonight, I'll just look to monocote, hinge, and rig the rudder. Afterwords I'll do a bit of once-over on the Dalton. I'm leaving Thursday afternoon for the Regionals. There is supposed to be unknowns each day, so this will be great for my 2nd Unlimited contest
Jim

Thanks Matt. How does your fly? What kind of mix numbers are you using?
Not much done last night, just an hour on the rudder. I tried to show the top of the rudder with the monocote cuts and how is folds into the hinge line. The "pro-finishers" always have nice nice hinge line work, and I'm trying to do a tad nicer job on the hinge lines for this plane. The white stripes are 3/8" wide, allowing for an 1/8" overlap of each color. Thanks, Jim

A few pics with the rudder temporarily positioned. I'll hinge this next week to make it removable. At this point, I think the plane will be 10 lbs +/- a little.
Thanks, Jim

OK Guys - moving closer to getting this done. Last night after cleaning the Antivirus Pro 2009 malicious spyware program off my home computer using the freeware, www.threatfire.com software, I went into the garage and mounted wheel pants, axles, wheels, and tailwheel. You guys may want to get this freeware because it uses a software behavior reconigtion algorythm to determine if code is spyware or virus, and does not rely on "updates" to catch known bad stuff. Anyways, seems to work for now.
The fuselage is RTF minus rudder cables and a short rubber exhaust extension. I also cut out the carbon spinner and mounted the Mezjlick 18x10 prop. I finished the tank installation and ran fuel tubing. The wing tube was also in the fuselage. At this point - missing only the rudder cables, rudder servo horn and a couple rudder hinges, the fuselage weighs a stunning 7 lbs 15.3 oz!!!!!!! At this point, I am quite confident that if the CG comes out OK and not needing "lead" to balance the plane, that it will indeed finish out at just under 10 lbs!!! Thanks, Jim

OK - Fuselage RTF as seen here is 8lbs 1.2 oz. If the wings come out like I suspect, this is going to be just a tad over 10 lbs RTF.
Stab incidence is set. The only left to do is monocote the wings and setup throws. Sunday or Monday looks to be a maiden ![]() Thanks, Jim

Thanks Tuny. I am expecting to fly Monday or Tuesday. I need only to monoocte the wings and setup the radio program.
You build on RCU is also coming along quite nicely! Your building looks awesome. What kind of epoxy resin are you using to laminate the balsa with the glass cloth? Thanks, Jim

VERY NICE!!
I love how this turned out Jim; I can't wait to see some finished pictures of it. The scheme looks great, and the fact that it's not the ARF scheme makes it stand out even more. Great job. |

Also,
How do you like the Mejzlik props for the pattern planes? I almost pulled the trigger on an 18x10 that was in my LHS a few months ago, but $47 seemed a little steep for an experiment. |

HI Ryan,
Thanks so much for your kind words. I have used the Mezjlick 18x10 (same prop) for 3 full seasons, starting its 4th. At first, I used this on the Aggressor with both the Webra 160, OS 140, YS 160. Then the Abbra. Then I used it on the Osmose YS 170 and now on the PassPort YS 170. I like the prop. It seems to spool up fast and not load the engine as much as a full APC 18.1x10.1. Thanks, Jim

Hello Jim, I´m using finishing resin, (pacer) to laminate most of the parts.
on the fuse floor I used NHP 3 hour epoxy, not for structutral reasons, just to have the extra working time. TUNY |

VIC - We NEED www.slickaircraft.com to put a T-can for trial purposes on the full scale Slick 360, then we would be hooked up with the best possible full scale platform to turn into a 40% pattern plane
![]() ![]() (my humble opinion)!!!!Thanks, Jim
