I've heard through the grapevine that the slick 540 is very capable for IMAC, as well as, 3D. Pre-order is at 1500.00 direct from Dietrich. Also, the Aeroworks 42% Extra 260 is pretty amazing. I have personally seen a friend go from 5-6 in sportsman to 1-2 (consistent podium finishes to date). He states it is an AMAZING improvement over his 42% Wildhare 300. - Remember set-up is so very crucial - One thing i have been doing lately is Keeping it Simple!! (K.I.S.S.)
Opening my canopy no longer looks like the insides of an cpu tower. A123, no regulators, dual spektrum recievers, jr servos (no match boxes, proper geometry), single seiko on rudder, you get my drift. Less weight, less points of failure, oh and yeah, more $$$$ in your wallet - as well as, no compromise in quality, performance. Man, I guess I had alot to say today..... P.S. The best 40%er you can buy is a duplicate to serve as back-up. That's the one you will really appreciate!!

i haven't any experience with the pau edge personally but we do have a pau ultimate and i can say that the service you get from herve and the staff at pau is tremendous! the kits seem to be VERY solid and they are certainly not overpriced!
just my 2 pennies...

Id definetly go with a PAU 43% edge 540. The plane flys wicked precision and 3d's super easy. harwware is great to.

Yeah, funny that the Carden 300 is tops in the pole and nobody has talked about it
Personally I would vote for the 260 for precision IMAC but the 300 IMO looks better Of course you should have good building skills to tackle that one...I would probably take two years at least to get one in the air![]() CapCanuck

For the price the dietrich slick 540 is the best looking plane so far.

Original planes had built up wings.... after a recall they were replaced w/ Foam core wings.... wound up selling mine before i even built it, but i have to say it was excellent quality for an ARF, and the included hardware was NICE! My vote was for the Carden 300, only because i am about to start a build on one.....

I've had some differences with some people at PAU, but yes, their 43% Edge is that good. Up until recently I've never felt that an Edge could be a decent IMAC plane and that it's strong points were generally limited to freestyle or 3d.
Not so anymore with the larger Edges. If you're good enough to get to the top, the planes are too. Planes still can't fly themselves and can't do it for you. They can make it a lot easier or harder though. The guy with the 260 or the 3 meter Yak sp55 will have a slight advantage on you in IMAC but you'll have them by the short hairs in 3d and freestyle. You just have to decide what's the most important to you. If all you want to do is compete in precision then the Edge may not be the one. But if you like having fun AND being competitive then the Edge is a winner. If it was less than a 40% plane I would offer another Edge selection, but the author wanted 40%. |
