Default Futaba 12FG, what's it worth?

I have a Futaba 12FG 72mhz and I'm thinking of getting a JR X9303 (2.4 version). It's about a year old and I have the 14 channel RX that came with it (only been used to set up my EF Extra, never flown) plus I could throw in a few more receivers with crystals. I have a Futaba R168DF, Futaba R147DF (I think, it's a 7 channel Futaba RX), a Hitec mini 5 channel RX, and a Berg 4 channel RX that brand new and unused. All of these include crystals.

The JR X9303 is $630 without servos. On top of that, I would need at least one if not two 7 channel RX ($100/each) and a park flyer RX ($50). That's $780-$880. So, my question is what do you think I can get for my 12FG I have right now?

Ben,

If you do decide to go with the X9303, do a bit of shopping as there are two vendors online I can think of right now who will sell you the set for a $100.00 less than that....

It can't be worth very much Ben. I'll buy it from you for $200.

For $200 I might be. But if you seriously want to sell the radio, take what a new one would cost, subtract some money for it being used, and you'll probably want to subtract would it would take to get a TM-14 module for it. There may be folks out there interested in keeping 72mhz but I bet most would look at what they could get a new 12FG on 2.4 compared with your radio. Hope that helps.

I thought maybe $800 all together. You could sell all the RX's for probably more than $200 total and then the TM-14 module is $400 with RX. It would come out cheaper than the 10C and be the same as if you bought it set up with the TM-14 module. What do you think?

Ben,

I sold my 9C for about a third of what they sell for new. I opted to sell it with or without the module, so the buyer could use their own and stay with the frequency that they were using. This allowed the buyer to upgrade his radio and not have an additional 72mhz module they didn't want. I wanted to keep my 72mhz module for my 10C to fly my electrics. Put the radio up for sale on all four websites and see what happens.

Why sell it? It looks like a very capable system. Maybe get a FASST setup for it and go. I have a x9303 and like it a lot, but not sure what you are gaining by going to the x9303 from what you have now. I personally like how the new Airtronics 10 ch looks and plan on getting one when they come out just to be different and try it out.

I just picked up a 12fg for $799 from tower with the 2.4 module and 6014 rx. Great deal and one heck of a radio. I couldn't imagine trading it for anything "lesser" not to mention you'll be out money for the swap. This is what I'm doing, I picked up a 72 Mhz module so I can fly my remaining few 72 MHz parkflyer size receivers. I'm picking up a MZ Spektrum module (yep, they will work with the 12FG with 1.6 software) for the future 2.4 Ghz parkfyler receivers (since it looks like futaba still believes that segment doesn't exist) and for the PNP / BNF stuff that horizon is coming out with.

So, with one radio, $40 for the MZ, got the FASST, and another $35 I got the 72 Mhz module I have a radio that can transmit on anything in existance right not, plus it is a very capable, programmable radio that far exceeds most peoples needs ever dreamed of. In fact, I would say at the $799 I paid for it (oh, did I mention I got a $40.00 rebate and the big boy futaba field chair as well!) it's the best deal on the market.

The thing I don't like about FASST is the price of an RX for parkflyers. The 12FG is a great radio, but I have a hard time spending $100 on an RX for a foamy. With JR, I can get foamy RX's for $50.

It's just something I'm thinking of doing, not set in stone yet. Keep the questions and comments coming though!

Buy the 2.4 module & 6014 receiver & have one of the best systems available. Why chane to any other system? Ben, you sound a lot like a troll to me. My $ .02.

Ben, just for your information, I own a 12Z system ( 72 mh ). I bought the 2.4 ghz module & receiver. It has been absolutely fantastic. I would't trade it for any other radio system.
