no such thing as overkill, the 82 should be just right, maybe a ys 63 too

I just spoke with Dave Patrick today, he answered the phone since Sandy was not feeling well. He mentioned that the Ulti 40 was a new model but I didn't know they were shipping. Are they? How much shipped? I want one to put a YS 63 in.

the one i have is s few year old, at least thats what the guy at the swapmeet said,, heres a pic for fun.. doesnt even have the tinted canopy, or the cool decasl as most the arfs did, if they do start selling again, id like to see it!, i went to the swap, not expecting to bring home a bipe,, i ended up selling my planes, so time for new one, then bam i was stuck trying to figure out how to fit the thing in the car with my katana 40 profile, hehe,

My buddy had a GP .40 Cap with a Saito 1.00 While insane....it flew great. The Saito .82 would be the perfect match for this plane. And when I said had.....it was not destroyed.....just passed onto a new owner.

i have a kit for a gp cap 40, i got strated on it, then lost interest i heard alot about it doesnt fly to well withthose tiny ailirons , so that project is on hold, along with a few others haha, i think i might try to get that 82, that is if the mounting holes line up withthe ones onthe mount ,

As with most of the 40 size planes, they call for a 40 to 46 2-stroke. It would be sweet with an OS-70, a Saito 72 or a Saito 82, as long as the all up weight will be under 5.25 lbs. Any one of these engines will fly the plane, but the 82 would fly it best. If the weight gets up towards 6 lbs., these engines will still fly it, just not near as well for 3D.
The big deal about the YS-63 is the light weight and the power of some of the older 4-stroke 90's. |
