Default JR 7 Channel PCM r/x for 50 CC??

hey guys!!

question about some radio stuff for my first "big scale" project.

I'm going to be doing something 50CC. Just curious as to if its possible for me to use some of the JR R790 PCM receivers i have around as a suitable r/x? It seems like people are using bigger 9 channel ones or expanders and what not. I'm trying to keep it simple (and low cost ). I was going to be looking at something like the Extreme Flight 88" Yak 54, 3D Hobby Shop 87" Extra SHP or the 3D Hobby Shop 89" Slick (when its released).

Anyway, would this r/x suffice for a first 50CC gasser without giving me any problems?
P.S. I'm flying with a JR 8103 transmitter

thanks!

It will work fine. You just have limited channels to mix servos with. Good luck with you first big plane, btw I would go with the 3DHS Shp. I is one nice plane.

Thanks Jclark.

im looking around to see if there are any 8 channel receivers for JR but i feel like that is a lost cause. i guess worse comes to worse i can always Y harness my elevator servos or aileron servos but i really feel like that could cause problems in a larger plane. maybe matchboxes?

There arent any 8 channel JR rxs but 7 is mor ethan enough for a 50cc. The model should only use 1 servo per aileron and 1 per elevator.

You need 2 channels for elev, 2 for ail, 1 for rudder and 1 for throttle for a total of 6 so you still have an open channel for smoke or somethig if you want it.

Awesome!! (first thing, i can't believe mike mcconville just answered a post of mine)

for a minute there i forgot that the battery input isn't considered and channel. excellent, now i just gotta get enough $$ together to get one of these 50CC guys and really start practicing

I'm flattered by your comment. I like your fleet in your sig too!

Even if the battery port were shared with a channel, you could simply use a Y-harness in that port, plug the servo into one side and the battery/switch into the other side of the Y-harness. All servos ports and the battery port on a common power buss in the rx.
If you have a situation where you want to run 2 rx batteries and you have all channels occupied with servos, this is what you would do.
