Default Comp-Arf Eurosport Build

Well.. i'm sure those of you have seen my YA F-18 "rebuild" well. i decided to part ways with it and picked up 2- comp-arf eurosports and a BVM bandit. 1 of the eurosports is mine, the other i am building for a friend. I'm going to start up a build thread on the Eurosport that is unbuilt, documenting it from start to finish. It'll be another 2 weeks till i get to it, but here's the expectations from it:

1. functional gear doors
2. Functional Speed brake
3. Fully detailed cockpit (this has already been done somewhat)
4. All switches, fill valves, ECU data ports, etc hidden but accessible w/o removing any hatches
5. Who knows what else the owner will want

Here's a pic of the box holding the fuse w/ my yellow eurosport and the BVM bandit.

Glad to see some turbines on the FG site.... I know, they may not be giants, but they are interesting to watch and fly. I've had a buddy box flight on one of our instructor's jets, got the itch to take the plunge, but this whole economy thing has me a bit paranoid at the moment. There are some great deals out there, just too paranoid to pull the trigger on one.

Awesome! I love the Eurosport. I saw one fly at Fresno Jets a month ago and it was a real sweetheart. What made you decide to swap the F-18 for the Eurosport? What turbine will you be using for power?

Mostly size. I live in a 2 bedroom apartment that has the bedrooms (one of which is my work room) upstairs. So the 98" long x 24" Wide F-18 (thats with the stabs removed) was a real hassle to carry up and donw a set of stairs to get it out of the house. So after doing this 3 times, i made up my mind that it was just to big for me to have as a weekend flier. A Friend of mine new the history of the F-18 and all the work i put into it. He said he'd like to have it, so i offered to trade it to him for a RTF euro (minus turbine and rx) and a RTF balsa bandit (minus turbine and rx). These are the ones you see in the pics. Then to make it "fair" (since his 2 jets were worth more than the F-18 almost) i offered to build him his "new" eurosport, which is whats in the box under the bandit, and what this build thread is for.

Ok, now that that is gone. I'm in the "hunt" for a decent 5x10 or 6x12 trailer, as im not going to keep 2 jets in my house (Jet-A residue STINKS). And since the cold weather season is coming around, im in no big hurry to get my euro or bandit ready. Plus their are some things on both im going to change and i want to go thru all of them.

Both Euro's will be powered by Ram 1000's. (mine was built by carlos at RTI and was measured at 32lbs of thrust). The Bandit will also have a Ram 1000 in it (so i gotta pay attention to speeds a good bit).

And i'm also in the planning stages of a 1/8 scale All composite F-14 scratch build, but that is going to be put on back burner for the project to start until i see what the economy situation ends up like.

Bill, yea i could tell billy wasn't in a hurry to get rid of the bandit, but I think he ended up accomplishing what he wanted to. Not to mention the F-18 was ALOT of work (checkout the thread in here if you haven't already). I'm looking forward to him getting it done, as i'll definately be making a road trip up there to watch. Plus i wanna fly it to

Tom,

Billy knows a good thing when he sees it or he wouldn't bother working a deal out for it. He's my go to guy when I'm not sure about something I'm picking up.

I'll watch your build thread with great interest.

if you don't like the smell of Jet-a, switch to kerosene. It doesn't have a lingering odor.

I agree. Kerosene doesn't have the lingering smell. BUT kerosene also is not as "quality" a fuel as Jet-A IMO. Plus i can't get kerosene for $2.00 a gallon like i can Jet-A
