Default Amount of Robart Super Pin Hinges

Ok so my 31.5% Staudacher plans call for 3 hinges for the Rudder and each elv. half. Is this a good a mount of hinges? Also they only go threw 3/8 x 1" Balsa! Should they be mounted in hard wood?

Thanks
Baker

I'd space them about every 3" and if you have the means, add some material. 1" is ok but if you can, make the hard points the depth of the hinge.

So just going through the 1" balsa will be ok? I have 13" of length for placing hinges on my elv.

So just going through the 1" balsa will be ok? I have 14" of length for placing hinges on my elv. From end to end is 16 7/8"

Yes. 1" will be ok. I'd place one 1" in from each edge and three more evenly spaced between.

thanks man you hav been a big help. Now if I could only get the main wings sheeted! I have not shake the nerves to get them done. I have never sheeted wings before, although I have been reading every thing about it that I can find on here.

Thanks Again

Which method are you planning to use for sheeting your wings?
