Default Saito 1.80 + Slimline Pitts, Good Combo??

Hey, anybody out there have experience with a Saito 1.80 and the slimline pits muffler? I've got a 1.80 mounted on its side in my Sukhoi and would prefer to not cut a big hole out the side of my new cowling for the factory exhaust. Does the Pits muffler reduce or increase performance? How about the sound, any different? Thanks for the input guys!

Wish I could help krash, I'm running a Saito 150, but mine is inverted with a straight pipe.

I hope somebody chimes in, I might throw one on mine also.

when you say straight pipe do you mean without the factory "silencer"? do you get a little xtra performance out of it that way? and how loud do they get with just a straight header??

I have flown Kens Showtime with the straight pipe. It's louder, but not really bad, if you manage the throttle properly. His 1.50 is definitley not hurting for power.

Hey krash,

I shot you a page, but I'll post it here also.

I used the factory adapter and added a 4" length of silicone tube with a 1/2" aluminum tube inside that. It made a nice clean install. I picked up 300 to 500 rpm without the factory silencer and I'm pretty sure it's within the 98 db allowed.

Make sure the coupler you use is rated for enough heat, the 2-stroke couplers get soft with the heat of a 4-stroke.

LMAO!! Gets hot doesn't it krash?

I use that stiff blue tubing from the LHS, I think it's 5/8". I'll check and see if I still have a package and let you know what brand it is.
