I am looking into building a 26cc yak using evo 26cc gas need it to be under 10lbs. I am looking at the seagull yak 90. I am concerned that i should change the hinges. Anybody used this combo yet. I know the engine will fit and will probably be using Spektrum dx6i with digital hitec servos with 90 oz of torque or more. Any suggestions would be helpfull.
Thanks |

Hi.
Use the hinge pins instead of the ca crap that comes with it, pins create less friction that the ca ones. Good to see you here ![]() Rogie.

I did the seagull Yak with a Zenoah 20 and it was a great package, the 20 had more than enough power, I would think the 26 would be to much weight up front IMHO.

So putting a 26cc up there is like an OS 1.60fx which is 0.8oz lighter than the Evolution 26cc. But you are putting an engine on this that can hover a 10lb plane an that Seagull 90 is 7lbs?? Consider lighter options for a gas engine and I think you will be happier. Just my opinion...

evo 26 33.1 oz
zenoah 20 33 oz Can't see this causing an issue in the weight department and the evo has double the power |

Thanks for the info but I think I will be looking at a total weight of around ten pounds when done with reinforcements and batteries. Flying weight posted by horizon hobbies is 8.4 to 9.9 and I think I will be in that range

Put that 26 on a pipe, and weight will be a non-issue.

Yeah that is about perfect, 26cc @ 10lbs, you'll have fun for sure. I wouldn't sweat the .1 oz, just don't feed your plane breakfast on flying days
![]() Are you flying at the IMAC in March?? I'll be down and am meeting up with Rogie, can't wait to get back to Florida!! |

Make sure to put a smaller fuel tank in it! 50cc takes about 1oz/min... so the 26 should go a long time on even a 10 oz tank. A friend of mine built the P6-E biplane (Curtiss Hawk?) and left the stock tank in, but switched to a gas stopper of course. I'm sure it takes some fuel, but it seems like the same amount comes out of the tank after a flight! I have a 20oz tank in a 30% Edge 540 w/ BME 50cc. I usually fly 10-12 minutes and there's always at least 1/3 of the tank left at the end of the flight. Gas is great! (I'm also on my 9th gallon for this year with that plane - lots of flying time too!)
